Uncoated, Heat-wrapped Mild Steel Mani!
I purchased one of Danes Mild Steel Manis a few weeks ago. My turbo seals had gone and I needed to get it sorted asap. Turbo Dave who builds hybrids offered to help and a date was set to have a new turbo installed along with a decat pipe I had bought a while back.
Although I was expecting a paycheck to come in shortly after the fit date, I didn't have all of the money to pay for the manifold at the time. Dane very kindly gave me one of his manis in advance as he knew of my predicament. He even supplied me with heatwrap and gaskets too, all in good faith. This kind of gesture goes beyond your average customer service by far and I think to expect that of him again would be bordering cheeky! lol But thanks a million anyway mate.
Excuse the picture quality, this was taken on a camera phone!
The mani it self was a perfect fit, no headaches lining it up on the head threads, just went on like a glove, job done. Even though this is an uncoated mani, the quality of the welds is superb, I can't see it cracking for a long time if ever as it is also braced! The heatwrap does an excellent job at keeping the engine bay temps down, I just need to get the last peice of wrap over that 3rd runner and tidy things up a bit. Overall, very impressed with the time that has gone into the design and fitment of it.
Once the Hybrid, Decat and Mani were all installed the difference in performance as you can expect was massive. The car pulls so much better from low revs, especially noticable on the motorway in 4th and 5th. Setup pulls through the rev range up to redline with no problems. I now have no worries about my 3rd piston going pop which is one of the main reasons I bough the mani in the first place. The car in general is much more driveable due to the added grunt. When its running a bar on good management its going to be a devil!
Now the only thing restricting the performance apart from decent management is the lack of a front mount. My Rx7 topmount just doesn't really cut it now. An HDI kit from Dane will be on order at the end of this month almost definately! I'm confident that with correct fueling and ignition on top of this, the car will be pushing 200 bhp with no problems.
To be honest I cannot wait! Its just a case of money now.
Thanks Dane for the big favour and an excellent product.
