similar career as me. i work for rolls royce testing the fully finished gas turbine. during the past 3 years i worked round the diff areas which includes cnc machining of compressor and turbine blades, pretty interesting stuff.

for blades that are an inch long they are more likely to be part of the HP or LP power turbine system, strong small solid blades (some of them having cooling air holes) that can handle extreme compression and heat! they are in the last stage of the compression so need to withstand awesome amounts of power.

also, what is it u actually do mate? as an aerospace engineer would tend not to be involved with cnc blades?

well thats the job title lol

cnc setter/operator / programmer

i work for aetc - have you heard of them? i work on the edm section at the mo

I work at a local satellite and aerial installation company - bit of a jack of all trades really. Involves dealing with customers in our shop and on the phone, maintaining the computers and network with a colleague, and I am also training to be a Registered Digital Installer. :)

stedee - never heard of them, im not involved with the machining side of things anymore though and my experience when i was involved was little.

in work at the moment and getting ready to rig up a Tay 650-15. this engine for anyone whos interested was brought into development initially to be used on the fokker 100 aircraft series and still does to this day. pretty cool engine from the small fan family, can produce a serious amount of power, kicks out around the 15k lbs mark of thrust when at max, i have to tune the engine aswell when its up at this speed. its great fun :) lol

anyway, off to rig. :)
