Toy tuning - whats happened?

Ive used Toby for a lot of stuff - forged rebuild, hybrid turbo, mail order parts, general advice, the lot and he has never been anything short of superb. Ultra long detailed replies, was really helpful during my engine rebuild and recently organised for an Emanage CD and cable to be sent out to me free of charge!

I can understand people being frustrated by the sounds of some of the things said in this thread though and hope Toby will be along soon to explain.

Thanks Dan. We try very hard to serve our customers needs and keep as much in stock as possible, which others don't. We are quite happy to stay a small business and keep customers our priority. Unlike others we will not bullshit about employees, premises or workshops that are not ours. We go to extreme lenghts often answering calls well into the night (Fishey) ;) If there is a problem you can always get hold of us and we will give an honest answer be it our fault or not :)

We hope to continue giving you all a good service :)

Good man Dave!

Thats exactly the same rule we live by here (even though most ppl on this god forsaken rock in the mediterranean do otherwise).. because when u have too much going on for you & u cant cope u really need to draw the line, ie either keep trying to make many clients & at first coping but with time adding more clients the quantity vs quality rule applies.. or else keeping what u can manage (which by the end of the day is still alot) & manage & make the work u do at the best u can..

This in essence is a very basic manufacturing strategy, sure we can make 50 low cost manifolds in the space of 20 high quality ones.. end of the day the question to be asked is " which will the customer enjoy the most/ more likely to cause future problems??"

I think the answer is very clear..

Just to make this clear this is not a dig at toytuning in any way, they are excellent & are very decent ppl, who are valued on tgtt.com as much as all our traders :)

just my 2p

I guess I'm in the same boat, I get an e-mail once in a while to reassure I am not forgotten, last e-mail I received was my Cusco goodies, TRD bits and others are being EMS over and clearing customs.. but I ordered these late August if memory serves me right.. I've received one of two bits but I did spend £1300 in one go.. and the most expensive bits are still waiting for.. this was clearing customs roughly 2 weeks ago.. and thats the last I heard..

Whats going to make it more difficult, or easier for Toby to get everything to me is that I am going to be out of the country for 2 weeks as of Saturday so I guess hopefully on my return I'll be ready to get these remaining bits..

Mate i have been waiting 4 weeks tomorrow for my item i think we just have to wait abit longer and thank god we haven't ended up like the poor chap who is £1600 out of pocket.

Sorry to hear about your troubles guys ^^^ !

As I said it just seems they've got too much on for their own good, could be classed as greed. Seems like a big business, but I can see they're not very well organised. And tbh from what I read on here about stuff regarding them their main problem seems to be they hardly stock anything and just order WHEN they get an order. Maybe they should increase lead time estimates to deal with matters such as these.

i just hope you guys get your items soon,

its a shame as toytuning once used to be spot on, quick replys and very very helpful.

looks like unfortunately toby's just got over his head and cant deal with it all at once! the reason why hes got so much more expensive is hes had to be tax registered because he cant keep putting all this money into the bank without the taxman noticing, so hes having to pay lots more.

hopefully they will be able to get back to the company they once was, all i can say is if your in a hurry use dave for the time being till they sort it out

:p:haha:Hehe at the "use dave for the time being till they sort it out". Why not use Dave full stop lol If his prices / service is better?

Its true that having to be VAT registered and showing income for the taxman to review is the right way, but it should be done in order to also maintain the success/growth of the business too. My personal recommendation for this company is to get someone employed who ideally has experience in managing a self employed business and in same trade ;).

Not had many dealing with Toby as I have only bought a few bits off of him, but in the instances I have he has always been very prompt.

I think that there are alot of changes happening atthe moment and alot of time is being taken up for development and more bespoke parts. I am not defending Toby or the team @ toytuning as I am a firm believer that its hard to reach the top but very easy be put back down there and people should never forget their roots.

At the same time this is Toby's lively hood and business that weare all discussing so maybe a little hesitation before posting harsh or perhaps over enthusiastic comments.

It's uber fustrating waiting for parts I know from experience but patience guys and as for Toby and the team please get back to these guys that are waiting as its your business that is going to suffer:eek:

i dont think its the fact that it takes long for the items to come etc... its the lack of comunication

wouldnt take much to say ive had to order it ... its gonna take x amount of days sorry for the delay

if you payed for sumthing on ebay and you didnt hear anything for 3 weeks youd be claming your money back after the first week

its totally unacceptable

agreed matey it's not on and totally unacceptable and emails or a quick call would never go a miss.

however lets try not to make it into a post that is not entirely true or misinterpretates Toby and the team

I have no doubt they will come good, it's probably just a very hectic time for them.

Toby if you see this and you need an extra hand, give me at least 15k a year and I will come and work for you! ;)
