yh the point of this thread and the opinions is to improve the braking of a starlet considerably without costing an arm nd a leg.
also as bolt on as possible is a good solution, and if there bigger brakes we are fitting it improve the strlet braking capacity, which is our aim.
would like to know your finding glanza v tee....

seriously st165 twins or st185 single, which would give braking force????

word on the street is that the single pots are better. but tbh the difference is probably minimal.
the single pots have a better range of aftermarket pads for them.

the aftermarket pad avaliability is most likely why people say there better.
but any of those has to be a lot better then the stock caliper, and increase braking force.

like for like most people tend to say the single pots are better. if you do a google search its mentioned on the gt4 forums.

trust me, stock twin pots are not better than uprated stock starlet discs and pads when pushed hard.

im going to stick better pads in when the better weather comes and i start using the car again. hopefully the brakes will be alot better.

just checked out the astra discs, and there still not quite right,

they are 2mm shorter than the starlet discs, so still wont fit quite in the centre of the caliper, unless you machine 2mm out of the back of the discs where it bolts on the hub

thats what i did, but the thickness of the back of the disc is thicker than the staret discs so you only essentially loose about 1mm of the thickness (something like that anyway, was a while ago when i got it all done.

that way you dont have to mess about with spacers and/or longer studs.

what astra discs on you about ricky?
the mk4 ones duncan has used, or st185 conversion which uses the astra diesel van discs???

mk4 discs yeah

mr2 calipers i cant say, not really had time to look into them, but they are offset so i dont think they will do the job

oh rite, but getting a spigot rings made up shouldnt be too difficult tho, should it???
should really get a list of things needed as a reference point for people in future,
maybe this could become a brake thread similar to the emu thread with launc control....

anyways wheres a good place to buy st185 calipers and carriers from???

i would just try ebay or the gt4 oc. you could always try contacting fensport. they specialise in gt4s and have spares. they may be a little more expensive but obviously come with some kind of warranty

i looked at fensport duncan, it was a exchange basis they advertised.
so u sned your old celica calipers in and they send a new set or refruded set your way.
reckon gt4oc may be best bet tho for calipers...
and sigpot ring should be easy enough to make up????

honestly mate, ring them. that was just for a recon set. they have a store of second hand parts off breakers. i imagine they would sell you calipers, or charge a bit more and get you them reconditioned for you as well.

i just got a mate to make the spigot rings up. anyone who can use a lathe should be able to make them easy enough

they might not always answer. its not a massive company. they are very helpful though. i have rang them and been there myself and they always have plenty of time for you.

you may be unlucky and they dont have a set, but its always worth an ask
