What is a p-sports glanza?

As Jay has already said, they exist. It's easy to get confused over spec levels, as the multitude of options can be a little complex, but having seen a few in the flesh (96 version and 98 version), and also having importing one for SupaStu, they are out there. Call them what you like, I for one know that if I was driving around in one when they came out, I'd be a happy bunny (especially as I'd have saved around 1 million yen over a standard Glanza V).

I've seen Glanza's advertised with 'Leather' seats, and I've seen lightweight versions with ordinary seats. There are always tell-tales if you know what you're looking for...

P-Sport for sure, the funny thing is, my missus swears that is was quicker (or felt quicker than my full spec glanza V) I also thought that it was super smooth, apart from the crap seats, it was awesome :) :) :)

Super Mod (極度の調整器)
general consensus from jay etc said that the p sport was even more expensive than the v, even though the lower spec....?

Nope, about 1 million yen cheaper... Have the prices somewhere, 1.4 million for normal spec, 1.3 million for lightweight spec from memory... I think that's for a 1996 vintage...

Right. Did a bit of digging so here it is.

When ordering your manual Glanza V you had a choice:

- Code AGMQY which was the base, poverty-spec model for 1450000 yen.

- Code AGMQY (D) which was the 'Excellence Package Equipped' and had power windows, central locking for 1500000 yen.

- Code AGMQY (F) which was the 'Motor Sports Package Equipped' for 1332000 yen.

I have the japanese pricelist here beside me.

So then.. we now have conclusive proof? Unless someone wants to dispute that the name isn't related to 'Sports' in the slightest lol?

Point one : When ordering a Glanza V from the factory you got the option of ticking the electric pack option which gave you electric windows, central locking and electrically adjustable door mirrors. Very few japanese buyers opted for the entry level manual windows hence the rarity of them

Does that mean mine is worth more as it has the rare pov spec windows? Haaa

Jay great info here! Thanks a lot!

Any information regarding the auto model(s)? What was the exchange rate to GBP at that time any idea?

This is all really interesting actually wondering what my car was like out of the factory. I have the feeling its a base model with some optional extras reading some of the specs but id love to find out. Its a '99 Glanza V. Its got manual windows, electric mirrors, abs, no aircon (the button is there but its not on the car so im guessing its been removed), no sunroof, recaro seats, no central locking

Nice one Jay... Also, good to see my memory still works!

Yip sure is - I was doubting myself for a while there lol..

Bit off topic Paul but the autos came as either AGPQY for the Basic package at 1543000 yen or AGPQY (D) for the Excellence package which cost 1593000 yen (the priciest factory model you could get).

There was no automatic P-Sport Glanza.

No idea on the exchange rates at that time but maybe Mark could offer some insight.

Sorry for the off-top Jay, could you specify the difference between the models please? Was it the same as with manual? Or may be that was the difference between LSD gearbox and non LSD?
Also 1GBP in January 1998 was 120 JPY, so the most expensive auto model was £13 275 - I suppose in 1998 it wasn't a cheap car.

That extra 50000 yen bought you power windows, power mirrors and central locking by the looks of things Paul.

The autos don't have LSD.

Ok thanks!
Some mechanics say that most of the Auto's have LSD. The door sticker on my car clearly says LSD on it along with some Japanese writing.

They all have that door sticker. It tells you the tyre pressure for your emergency spare wheel. The LSD models have a different size spare wheel so that's the only reason you see it printed there (the top one is the regular model and the bottom is the LSD tyre pressure). Your car does not have LSD.

I stopped listening to mechanics a long time ago lol.
