What is the worst thing you have spent money on for your car?

Petrol! Going LPG would be a wise choice! I will convert my glanza next year, cheap gas, legal decat, more power (115 RON lpg), no need to change the fuel pump in order to go for a higher boost!

Cheap tyres x 3

Cheap windscreen (in the future I will refuse to put anything but original Toyota)

Expensive labour - TM Dev. for example!

Cheap brakes (like kwit fit)

Cheap/original air filter

second hand td04s/td05s you always think you can make money buying them 2nd hand, but you get so many that you pay 30/50quid for that you wouldnt allow yourself to sell on at all that you barely break even once you give some away LOL but i suppose it helps the odd person out so meh

a gearbox.. it works perfect but the imput shaft is making that noise that sounds like the engine is rattling like a bucket of bolts on idle untill you clutch in.... then again its all down to the trust you have for the seller of the gearbox as its very hard to inspect a gearbox visually.. my advice is to buy off a trusted seller or buy a gearbox thats still in the car that is been broken so you can test it yourself before handing over your money..

just sound advice decide early what u want

power ... how much street/drag/circuit

handling mods probabaly best fit coillys then look for whiteline goodies arb/anti lift kits

brakes to suit power mods

main thing is to decide what u want from the car and buy the right bits once ...

do not buy ten turbo set ups before u find the right one lol research is the key

i once bought a brand new hks fcd for 120 pounds didnt use it .. which i sold for £50 when i got my
mines ecu lol

my opinion

CT9 hybrid off egay. Was apparantly brand new, never used. Turned out to be completely knackered and after parting with my cash the seller disappeared!
Have still got it to remind me not to be so stupid in the future.

Mine has to be the Jperformance decat for the CTR. Ended up taking it off after a fortnight of running stupidly lean due to false information from company. Sold to some guy in Malasia who didnt care about this fact! Silly boy!

Strange thing is that when i brought my Scorpion exhaust it came with another JP decat!! They are haunting me!!!

A GT that I later on relised that it had been in a serious accident and probably had been a right off but never registered. The car now lives in my lawn filled with bits that I have bought by accident or are the wrong size or no longer need. I Really should try to sell these spare bits but its such a hastle.

Budget tyres back in the day, that extra £10 per corner you save could end up costing your life or ££££'s worth of damage.

Jam actuator, had to buy a HKS after to get more boost. Also getting engine rebuild, should have just saved for a cruise engine big mistake.

MSD Ignition. Piece of crap. When My friend made 240whp with no ignition mods other than some Ultra plug wires I realized the Toyota iginition system was more than up to the task.

Mine has to be one of my first buys when i wanted to shorten my i/c pipe route, bought a "greddy" (iirc) custom i/c pipe which, funnily enough is identical to the standard hotside pipe!
Fucking noob, would have been better throwing £30 out the window :haha:

Or the greddy oil pressure gauge that was a link meter gauge..........I dont have a link meter

My newbie advice would have to be do your research. Don't believe everything you read/hear and never assume just because something is new or looks good, that it is good.

Back to parts, worst thing bought would probably be cheap parts off ebay! I save up and do the job properley now!
