I still have ac in my car (will be ripped out soon though) did have to take the fan off to get the cooler back but pretty much no cutting was needed with the HDI fmic despite the size, if you want to keep ac get a smaller sized fan and its not a problem! heres a pic.

Not sure if it wont work if A/c's removed but a smaller fan can easily be ushered up to it if you like =] if you dont mind losing a bit more of your bumper than me it'll fit without removing the fan, i just didnt want to cut alot =]

if you keep stock a/c fan by how much would IC come forward by,

the air con wont fit right if you remove the fan.

around half an inch to an inch i'd say tbh, if you like the Grining mouth look to the bumper to show the fmic off you can have fully functional ac with the fan and it wont cause a prob, that was one of the aspects i exploered but then realised my ac would need regassing and i wanted the front to look remotely standard so fan removed.
