as u all know i have been having trouble with insurance recently. well it all got resolved middle of last week and i have the money and now i can go get my new car.

so.............

just phoned the insurance company, to insure my new car which i shall be picking up saturday. (i'm trying to get things done in advance)

i said i just wanted to change my car on my current policy.

my old car a 95 gt turbo

my new car a 95 gt turbo

they said to insure me they need an extra £82.

i said ok as my new car has a bodykit on it. but then i realised i forgot to mention that.

so i phoned them up, and they told me that the price was correct for a car without the bodykit.

i asked how it was possible for the same car to cost me more, even though there exactly the same, and the girl on the phone told me thats just what the new premium the computer is telling her.

i told her that cant be possible and she said i would have to call back tomorrow as they are all on there way home.

is this possible? can they do this.

i dont mind paying the extra £82 to have the body kit declared but christ, that was without it.

i feel that insurance company's just dont like me.:flame:

gutted mate, i wouldnt see why they would charge that extra, unless its an admin fee or something gay.

Ring them back tomorrow and if its right cancel the policy and find another one.

honestly mate they are weird... about 7 months ago my insurance company sent me a letter regarding something i dont quite remember but anyway..... on this letter it stated my premium was a good £200 MORE!!! so i called up, naturally and asked why?? they said "oh, thats just what your premium would be if you were to get insured this month" I laughed my head off and said "What, £200 MORE??" ANd she said that basically the premiums fluctuate from month to month... I said christ, by that much, she said yuuup.... fuckin tw*ts excuse my lingo :homer:

I'd give a few companies a call and see if you can find cheaper than your present company before calling your company up that way you know if they don't sort it you can tell em to shove it. try Sky and chris knott they both prove to be good.(and give good quotes not make believe like privilege)

don't even get me started on insurance companies, lets just say that as soon as i get this years NCB i'll be taking my business else where, to a company that dosn't rely on call centers in the middle east to work in the front line and that are 9/10 times worse then a kick in the balls to deal with!

im not bitching fella i've done plenty of this in other posts.

i just need help, can they really charge me more on my policy, when the car im changing to is exactly the same as the one that got written off, except its a different colour?

how can that be possible?

£82 does seem steep but unfortunately this is how some insurance companies make their money, especially your average (non-specialist) insurer.

I've had a word with one of my colleagues and in the same situation if you were insured with Sky Insurance we would charge you an admin fee of £20 for swapping to an identical vehicle. We would possibly have to charge a bit more for the bodykit but this charge would depend on your policy.

By all means you should query it and ask them to justify why they are charging you that amount extra, ask to speak to a manager/team leader for this clarification.

Unfortunately if they do not budge you are going to have to move insurers (lose NCB) or bite the bullet and pay it.

Which company are you insured with?

i am with highway insurance.

my car got written off and it was not my fault.

would it be possible for my insurance to claim this back, instead of me paying it?

Are you through a broker?

Unfortunately I dont think you are going to be able to claim back the £82, you can ask but I dont think they would entertain it

How can we justify it? It is a basic admin charge, our staff do not work for free unfortunately. £20 much better than £82 no?

just got off the phone to insurance co.

they have decided not to charge me extra to change the car.

but they are charging me for the bodykit, and the fmic which is ok, but they are charging me an extra £178 to do so, and i have to pay them now, which is a ball ache, but least its all sorted.

thankyou ollie of sky insurance for your help.

So you get all your money from swapping policy's?
The reason im saying this is because ive swapped my policy 3 times and never got charged.
