It may be in the pipeline or it may not i thought mention it,

The top banner is there no way to create it like the front page where its pictures of members cars one after the other. With all the changes it seems abit bland now?

Hi Lads,

The banner at the top will be changed as I agree it is dated. We wont be putting in a flash driven banner like the portal though for two reasons

Compatibility - Some members may be visiting the forum on devices that do not support flash and we want to keep the forum page as simple and compatible as possible

Load times - We want to keep load times to a minimum. By keeping things simple all members on all Internet connections should get a good experience.The portal will only get a few thousand hits a day but the forum gets many many times more so it makes sense to keep it as light as possible.

This said however, there is no reason it shouldnt look good, so lets see what we can do :)

Really good effort and work on the site Dylan and to the rest of the mods involved.

I really like the new set up although its taking some getting used to. Its taken a more modern professional approach.

im good with just a refresh of the top banner, i only said the flash as of the front page,

something lighter in colour i think is needed, though my opinon only here.

Dylan, is the User CP going to make a comeback? i miss it already, mainly because i want to see the replys in the threads i have posted in.

AWE-SOME. Are you going to be changing the colour scheme aswell? Burgundy seems a bit dated :haha:

Cheers John, working on getting the user info under the avatar as it was in Vbulletin V3, it will hopefully have all the same info once complete.

I'm sure Dylan has a long list of things to do that haven't been done yet, how about all the "this isn't in the place it usedto be" or "this isn't here anymore" comments get left until Dylan posts up that all the ugrades are done and they are ready for feedback?

Teaching your granny to suck eggs atm.

Not meaning to be cheeky but give the man a chance!

Thanks Rich, I would have liked to have all the changes made and launch the new forum production ready but unfortunately that was not possible.

The process is now this:
Get the forum colours usable DONE
Get all the sections and features online - ALMOST DONE
Test everything is working and not causing server issues
Get all the modifications completed to the templates to make info display as it did on the old forum (rep etc) - Next on the list
Get the colours and style completed - will be done after above.

There are steps to getting this finished. Please remember that our priority is to keep the forum available for use and it is, nothing has changed it is still the same but is operating on the new vbulletin style. I would ask that people continue to show patience and we will continue to work on getting the above list complete.

Flashchat upgraded to latest version, automatic login enabled for members.

userCP link added to the navbar - userCP contains rep comments etc as it did in our previous VB

Reputation number added to user info under postcount.

Added todays posts link to navbar

Advanced search feature is now accessible again
We will be adding the google custom search as an option for people who prefer that.

To do:
Write code to display members garage link in user profile under reputation number
Configure style colours and correct contrasts so everything is easy to read in all parts of the forum.
Add chatroom details to "who's online" so members can see who is in the chatroom
New banner design
Optimize performance of forum load times
Add work friendly theme
Address permission settings across all parts of the forum

Nice work.

I noticed on a member's profile the names of the last visitors (Recent Visitors) are in white text against a white background.

Havin prob's gettin on site on my phone, it seems real slow to load..

Would this be down to my phone??? i have a sony erricson satio....

Other than that am likeing the new forum as use to it now...
