This is my worst fear about picking my MX5 up next week.
350z ruined at a bodyshop (EPIC FAIL)

no your missing the point mate im fully aware he paid $750 in the end. the point im making is he was originally quoted $250 which should have started alarm bell straight away. nobody deserves what happened to him and its a shame but he tried to cut corners by not taking it to a reputable place and paying a decent price. he took a risk to save money and got his fingers burned end of.....

My thoughts exactly. It was me that posted up the mr2 thread, i think its the same one, and it was a chargecooler install. Shocking job.
With all shops, its going to take time to do it, wether it is done well or not.
Yes price is definatly a factor with everyone. If you had one guy quote you 3 grand for a job, and one guy 1 grand, youd most probably go with the cheaper.
Just because somone doesnt charge as much as somone else does not mean that they will get shoddy work.
Mine is a very very good example.
I paid supposedly £800 to get my car sorted. which included.
All the bodykit to be Re-fibreglassed, as it was cracked and had hairline cracks.
Spoiler to be repaired.
Both bumpers resprayed.
drivers door to have a dent taken out.
Rear quater resprayed
Fitment for kit back onto car.
Rear wiper smoothed over
boot lock smoothed over.
When i went to give him the £800 he gave me 75 back saying, dont worry about it. he then asked me to come back a week later so that he could check everything was sound...this really showed that the guy knew what he was doing and enjoyed his job.
Some places were quoting me £900 JUST to repair the kit.
As a rule of thumb, ill never pay anyone to work on my car before they have acutally done the work.
I dabble in a bit of bodywork myself, and i can honestly say that i could have done a better job on that 350z, in the dark, upside down!

I resprayed my spoiler a month ago.€10 for rattle cans and a bit of spare sandpaper I had lying around...I sprayed it in my driveway, and with a bit of rubbing compound was as good as new!!!professional finish compared to the ruined 350.....

lol - He obviously scrimped, do actually feel sorry for him though like, that car is in a state now
true... and remember that is in dollars too so it was ultra cheap. Some people will never learn that you get what you pay for. Having said that I dont like seeing anyone have their pride and joy destroyed he must have felt sick when he picked that up its in a right state.
