3sgte throttle body or other's?

you would only need one if you pushing big power to try and get inlet temps down somewhat, there would be no gains otherwise except probs a loss of torque.

Best way would be to send it to a guy in a america tho who bores them out and fits new butterfly valves etc. www.maxbore.com iirc

not alot of point fitting a bigger throttle bodie if your not ganna have the head ported, as the air's not ganna get into the engine any quicker.

it reduces inlet temps if the throttle body size becomes an issue though, although on the GT's the diameter of the TB isn't half bad tbh. Not like on my GTti where its 35mm LOL

Any one used one on a 4e before?

Are there any other bigger tb's that fit?

Is there much point in fitting a bigger throttle body to the standard intake plenum?

There is a hole in the end of that that restricts intake airflow as well, no point in bolting an 80mm throttle body to it if the hole in the end of the plenum is only 60mm.

Does anyone know what size the hole in the plenum is?

I was gona say all this when i read it yesterday but i really couldnt be arsed lol

Glad a few have said it though. Absolutley no point unless running huge power, even then will it only make a small difference.

the inlet manifold and head ports are the restriction, no benefit in fitting a larger one unless you mod the head and inlet to allow for the extra air to get into the engine quicker.

exactly correct. You would need a port and polish on the inlet manifold to gain some sort of benifit.

But even still the engine would need to be trying to suck a whole lot of air to need a larger throttle bodie.

dan didnt that bigger tb have a neg effect on your civ?

Actual speed i couldnt say, but in regards to the drivability YES! Majorly. It was stiffer even after i had lubed it up with vairious lubricants, kept sticking/Idle control had a mind of its own, tried setting it up but dont think the TPS liked it at all.....

When i changed it back to stock im certain my response was greater and overall drivability was perfect again....

A mod i will NOT touch again unless it was sent off and tuned properly. Even then, i still think a fairly pointless mod, unless it is actually proven to be restrictingh power from your engine....

They say stock T/B on the B16B which is in my EK can flow up to around 250BHP, after that you could do with going bigger. But these engines rev crazy. Different concept when its N/A...

the stock plenum is around 50mm irc.. what u should do if u plan on using a larger throttle body is cut the oem plenum out, bore out slightly the oem runners & fit a new plenum.. we have found it to be very good that way.. & its easier to keep a stock position..

the ideal (although very hard to find) throttle body is that of the old 3L supra's ie a 60mm tb off the 5mge..
