exactly right mate...

@starbowboi- stage 2 cams,valvesprings and retainers,aftermarket ecu,intake,exhaust,decat,mani,port+polish,thinner headgasket will see very very good gains on a n/a......QUOTE]

how much is that little lot ganna cost though? getting 200bhp from a starlet would be cheaper and easier... and no doubt more fun

ive had both as i used to own a civic jordan, and i must admit the b16a2 is a bullet proof engine but is far more expensive to get extra power out of it, were as the 4e-fte is much easier obviously as you only have to turn the boost up and sort the fuel and ignition out to gain a fair few horses! i got my civic j to 185bhp and it easily cost me £2500! also the 4e-fte in my opinion is a much more fun engine as u get all the diff noises were as the v-tec kicking in sounds awesome at first but soon gets boaring!

ummmm... what i would like to know is how much power an n/a car gains with exhaust/filter in comparison to turbo?

glanzav99- release the ek spec list

dantheman- would like to experience a honda turbo, seems quite straighforward build to but will it be dissapointing at low boost?

any rapid honda owners contact me.

exactly with the 4efte you can hear the engine evolving. People take different routes to extracting more power from the lump, whether it is the late punch and pull of a big turbo or the rush of torque with the quick spooling ct9. either way no two sound the same.

the b16/vtec's all sound the same (I will stand by this generalisation lol) even with different exhausts, air filters etc they sound the same. fair enough turbo it without cutting corners and your on an equal playing field but with more cubic capacity = you win. but bar turbing it, it will sound something the same, very annonying

what do u mean? how much would a n/a gain from having a filter and exhaust fitted compared to having a filter and exhaust fitted to a turbocharged car?

probably looking at 12bhp max with filter and exhaust on a n/a, despite half the bullshit claims different brands make...

and agree with all vtecs sounding the same, and imo they sound utter shite with exhausts, very raspy much like corsas/saxos etc

My crx sounded mental when vtec engaged. 2nd grear was so much fun, just gently put you foot down then as soon as it got to 5500 it was so loud and just took off. I easily had 140-145 on the clock and it was still pulling strong but a bit scary tho. i think 150 on the clock would be its limit pretty much, i wont know what the exact speed that would be though. i remember the video of billb at ten of the best doing a top speed run in his Sir (has different gear ratios to a uk vt) i will try and find it.

pointless trying to build a type r engine/car mate,as its much much different than the vti/sir/sir2,the ek9 suspension is totally uprated, chassis is seem welded for ridigidy(spelling:p)lighter shell, thinner glass,no sound deadning etc etc.....

the b16b is basically a de-stroked version of the teg r engine, the b16b actually has a more agressive cam than the teg r engin hence why teg owners are keen to use a civic type r head on their b18c....

this is my final setup, should be complete very soon

Apexi power fc & Commander vtec @ 5500-9500RPM
TODA spec B camshafts,valvesprings,sleeves retainers....

i think you would see more from a turbo car, even though you are doing the same thing the (helping the engines brethe better) on the turbo car you will also gain quicker spool up so i think you would notice it more on the 4e-fte!

The B16 is the superior engine of the 2.

For real world guys like us, the 4EFTE is obviously easier and cheaper to tune and get good power gains, this is due to it being turbo charged of course.

The yanks obviously spend a lot of time on money on the B16 engines and they must get such low QTR miles due to the displacement? 4EFTE is a 1.3 after all.

Strap a turbo on a B16 and you will obviously get big power gaines.

B16 all the way...
I got loads of friends with Hondas, some stock some modified, and them cars are quick...

With that setup on a b16 you might see 200bhp. You've basically got cams, able to rev higher, free flowing exhaust and intake. Defin not worth the money imo. You could spend that in much better areas than a new sump, oil cooler and rad cap that you dont need!

Just stick a b20 bottom end with your standard b16 head and that would be sooo much better. More torque, near 200bhp and will save you a hell of a lot of money.

But prove me wrong ;)
