5e idle rpm

for those with 5e turbo builds....what rpm does your 5efte idle at?

reason i ask...i've seen a few now....and some seem to idle on the high side (1000rpm-1200rpm in some cases)

does anyone run stock idle 750rpm or anywhere close to that

mine runs round 900rpm .think 750 rpm is ok anything under may cause the oil light to come on

thanks billybob...do u have your idel adjustment screw turn al the way down or is there room to lower it more if u wanted?

ive about 2 full turns if i want to turn it to the bottom it would idle from 900 to 600rpm full in which is way to low

mine runs 750-850 rpm at full operating temp. idle adjustment screw is about one turn from the bottom. all the way it it idles at 500rpm. havnt had issues with oil press at 500rpm still making 35psi with stock untouched releif valve but it vibrates like hell with the solid engine mounts and isnt good for the internals putting it under so much stress.

are you having issues getting yours to idle correctly?

that's stock idle there.....good to see
i just wondered why i observed so much variance in the different 5e builds i see/saw

i beleive u use "5E" cam timing marks also??? ----iirc

this is just for information purposes

yes i am using the stock 5e timing marks on my engine.
bit more info
also using complete stock 4efte inlet manifold. air bypass valve isnt being used.

im running Total 15w40 mineral oil in my engine. its traveled under 100,000km so oil system is in top condition. i also do oil changes after ever 2 drag meets or a track day. or every 3000km

sounds like u take very good care of your engine finx.
i guess that's why it keeps doing the good performances

sure do. its well worth it in my opinion. i always use top quality and high octane fuel, clean air filter regularly and change the fuel filter every 10,000km.
for the extra coin spent to keep your engine in top condition is the difference between peak performance and mediocre performance.

air bypass valve? is this the same as idle control valve? may i know the reason why youre not using it? thanks

(i know its not a 5e but the principal is the same) my 4e seems to like a high idle, it will work strangely if i dont leave the idle at around 1100~1200rpms.. its always been like this for as long as i can remember, before & after rebuild, on different setups & ecu's... all sensors etc are setup correctly & in good working order.. in all honesty if it likes to sit at a certain rpm just leave it like that lol..(if u can find nothing wrong with any sensors etc)

yes sorry idle control valve is another name for the same thing
it is not required on my set up which is running a 2et ecu which doesnt have a control outlet for that particular electronic valve. it uses other means for cold start.
