i must admit tho its not just ecus iv seen for low prices for other jdm cars, iv seen alot of coilovers, mainly tein and cusco *second hand mind you* for supras and skylines for silly money, 350, 300, and whenever starlet comes up its 500 at least.
the reson a lot of coilovers are £500 for starlets is from what i have seen of late they have been almost new coilovers.
i have seen plenty of used coilovers for starlets for £300 -£350 and less.
i paid £600 for a 2nd hand set of coilovers 4 years ago they were buddy clubs 6 months old and done 6000 mile and looked new condition, these coilovers are 1k new so £600 was a fair price imo,
the cost of 2nd hand parts are always relative to the cost of new parts and the condition of the actual item.
as for all the people winging about that starlets ar as common as the likes of imprezas etc, fuck off and open your eyes morons, there is very few items available for starlets that is still in production these days and as the years go buy there is less and less in production,
starlets in the grand scheme of things arent common enough for the likes of the big company's to carry on the production parts of each item, this pushes the prices up, the exchange rates also help keep up the prices of starlet parts at the mo, i used to always ship stuff over from japan, and pay very little for it, and it was worth while, now i have to look elsewhere for parts being manufactured over here, or i buy parts that need slight modification to make fit because the costs are just silly in japan at the moment, and this isnt just me its accross the whole community.
the parts that fit starlets that are readily available in the uk/europe are priced very faily and competively.
as for the ecu's i would rather spend the £500 on a standalone, than a jam type ecu, but i can see the appeal of the jam style ecu's, you spend the £500, then £60 for a fuelling and ignition check and then thats it, or you could spend £500 on a piggyback or standalone then say £100 fitting then £3-400 for mapping, for people with mildly tuned starlets this cost saving is actually quite substantial so the £500 people are asking is a fair [price.
the nissan/mitsubushi/subaru/honda ecu's can all be remapped, toyotas cannot, this is the reason for the pricing difference between mines ecus and the equivalent in starlets.
a remap on a subaru ecu is £350 and it suits your car so why would the subaru community buy a mines ecu for £500??????? think about it people open your eyes wake up and smell the coffee, you moaning bunch of gimps,
it's people like you that are causing the community to dry up of exciting builds because you all so tight you squeek, and because your not spending makes the market go up in cost cos there not producing enough to keep the costs down which means u have to pay more etc etc etc etc
it's the vicious circle of life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
