Just run standard boost, on the forge engine (good way to wear it in). When you have the cash, boost it up.

Bloody good point!!! ;) i like that idea :-D lol... we shall see then ;)

@ Toby - Hi mate it's Ben (bens_out_hes@yahoo.co.uk, we've been chatting over email for a while regarding various mods and purchases!) I shall bop you another email now just briefly explaining the options i've been presented, and talk with you about it all! :)

im sure dan, hasnt ben had his skimmed already a few times?

not the block.

for some reason with starlets even just 2 thou of warping, it causes huge cooling issues.

once i have my car back on the road and boosting we'll see what happens, but this is the only reason i can think as to my problem. but with darren and dave b building my engine i'm sure all will be fine from now on.

@toby- sorry for not recomending you fella, i forgot the workshop was still running

Another option to Dave is us, we have huge experience with over 50 forged engines out there under our belts. If you want to discuss any options let us know regardless of where you get the work done would be happy to help even to offer friendly, impartial advice.

There are an abundance of people running our engines on this forum for over two years without a hickup.

Best Regards,

I can vouch for Toby's engine builds and would recommend them to anyone with 100% confidence that they would be as happy as I am with mine.

I have been running mine for the last 10 months at 1.4 bar through my hybrid and the engine is absolutley perfect, it uses no oil, no water and I havent had one single problem since I had the car back.

Can't recommend Toby enough here mate. Mines been running one of his forged builds since the beginning of this year and hasn't missed a beat running at 1.2bar on a hybrid. Very comprehensive build and will talk you through it every step mate so you know exactly whats going on. Weston Performance who mapped the car commented how well the car ran and how good the engine was, they even said it deserved a bigger turbo tbh! Give him a shout mate.

Just quickly... if the engine's losing compression and its getting worse, would that explain why my turbo is getting a LOT laggier?? It now gets up to full boost at 5300rpm! lol... it's like having vtec ;-)

yes it will, i cant remember the exact ins and outs why but it definately will, its like when lowering the compression with a bigger headgasket, you will notice a small amount more in lag

If its loosing lots of compression then the turbo would need to work harder to produce the compression which is being lost in the cylinders so yes :).

It's all in relation to exhaust gasses which feed your turbo.

If the engine compression has been reduced then combustion is poor.

You need a little slap on the wrist for driving it around though, especially foot down, potential to cause alot more damage there!

LOL @ Phil - whether you were joking or not it's funny :-D - with all this lag she's now as slow as my bro's DC2 :'-(

As for the slap on the wrist... :( - its going to get rebuild on thursday this week - i wasn't caining the poor bugger anyway i just wanted to see what it was like before it goes in to be rebuilt :)

Cheers guys, poor thing! All fixed when i get back from hol :-D

You could easily score the bores and ruin the block by driving it under load though. You would need a re-bore then.

Ben,

Benj's engine they are on about is mine and bens other GT which we are breaking. As said above the block needs skimming on it hence why its so cheap. But that all depends on what you wanna do. I would understand you wanting to get it all done from scratch to give you piece of mind as this happening will not be restoring your trust in other people.

Hope you get it sorted chuck :)

@TurboDave - I shalln't do it again, i was merely interested to see what she was like and boosted it once :)

@Kelly - Ah right i didn't realise it was yours dude! I've already got it all arranged with Darren @ SGTTurbo.com now, but thanks for the offer and good wishes :D

Are you going to rebuild with forged parts, would be a shame not to considering the labour is still going to be done with standard parts ?
