building my little NA engine (work in progress)

thought you lot might like this.

currently building a 2e-e engine for my daily driver.
had some worn crank seals so she was leaking vital fluids all over my driveway so i opted to preform a little surgery..
bit just changing the seals would be boring... so i'm giving her a once over and repainting the engine

pics of the progress so far:



the old lump is out...

head dismantled

bottem end dismanteld

have a ultrasonic cleaner, love it!

cleaning the head and valve seats

fitting the valves

all done

more parts..

small torque wrench for small things works very well!

main bearings in and lubed

drop the crank in

fitted the end caps, lubed the bolts and bolt heads so i can torque it propperly

time for the big torque wrench

prepare to assemble

piston rings all back in place and moving freely. was all gummed up before the cleaning

tapping the piston in place

lube it up!

that thing is epic for cleaning parts
just dump them in for a few hours and they are like new!

Small update!

fitted the head

adding more parts...

original 12v sticker

added some color to the fuel rail, cleaned the injectors in my ultrasonic cleaner, replaced a few bad injector seals and fitted the rail to the engine

waterpump, engine mount, timing belt and the covers are back on

been working on the gearbox had a pretty good layer of muck on it.
the box was technically sound so i decided to just freshen it up with a bit of paint

done a few more things to the block, thermostat housing, alternator, some hoses and other small stuff

if all goes well she should be back on the road this weekend

funny thing is.. i'm not that much of a detailer (on the outside of the car)
i wash my car on a regular basis. but polishing and waxing and all that stuff is not for me

but somehow i like building engines and freshen them up "a bit"

engine is finally off the engine stand and the clutch is fitted

this is not freshening up a bit. this is freshening up A LOT!

i can't seem to help myself once i start on an engine every bit neets to be checked, cleaned, measured to specs, painted and fitted neatly

building this engine took a bit over 100 hours sofar.
but i work relaxed and i take my time for everything i do.
