Is your mate gona be running a standalone with the TB's as you cant really get proper results without it...?

They need to be mapped up properly otherwise can make you car run a bag of shit...

PS.. sounds feckin cool!

sweet adam, I wouldnt say no to a TB'd 172 lol....

Really must shift especially with the good response from the raw N/A grunt coming out the bends etc....

He will need the lot cams etc.... They need to be able to rev higher which the cams will allow so the TB's will be working at their best....

I love TB motors, my mate had an old XR2 back in the day all TB'd up and i loved driving it... was only on the CVH lump they came with but was still really cool and fairly powerful.... Really torquey feel to it.... 172 on them must be mad...

Just done a sex wee listening to those TB's (not the car).

Absolutely love TB's and the noise to go with it, ever since i saw Olly Hewitts Vauxhall Nova C20XE on TB's made me want them.

Since then ive always had a notion to get one .. wierd.

Not so true.
You dont need all of the above, you can tune a set of T/B's, with managment on a standard engine, although the gains wont be as much, If you did have the cams, headwork etc etc
They dont need to rev higher at all.

The only thing i can think of is, they will work better at the higher end of the rev range, over the stock T/B, and yes give better results through the entire rev range, if done properly.

Sorry, yeah i know you can tune TB's on a standard engine etc but the results wont be as beneficial by no means.... You need other supporting mods like as youve said cams, head work etc to actually get useful power out of them and throttle bodies love to rev hard and thats how you will get the best gains....

Thats what i was implying....

quad throttles are more about response and mid range than outright power

the only reason they make more power on most cars, is because the standard intake is a restriction. cams and headwork will make more power on any motor that isnt choked to death

im building an n/a 5e with 11.5:1 CR and quad throttles very slowly :) hopefully it will be running by years end

you can check out more about my plans/motor etc here http://www.austarletclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=635 :)
