Cheers for the help buddy, i think the best bet is to buy the whole topend gasket kit from toyota (with H/g and valve steam seals) and rebuild a spare head i have then swap it over.

That's probably the best idea. It'll be worth checking the valve guides on the head your going to use if your not going to replace them.

I was thinking am i beter disconecting the Lambda sensor as i think its causing the other 3 cylinders to run lean, or should it be ok?

That's not a bad idea. :)

I wouldn't swap the bearing caps from one head to another, the caps are matched to the head. You'll probably need to replace some shims especially if you lap the valve seats.

You can get away with using caps from another head, but you'll need to check the oil clearances with some plastigage. Standard clearances should be between 0.035mm - 0.072mm, if any are more than 0.1mm then it's definitely a no go for those caps.

Have a read through the 5EFE manual, it will give you some guidance with regards to checking the cylinder head for wear.

a bit of a diy port to the head would be good too while its out :p

Thats my plan, you know of any DIY Porting tutorials or anything like that for the 4E Head?

I am hopefully going to port a spare head, swap the Valve seals, and then swap it onto my block, is there anything else i need apart from,

Toyota Gasket set (H/G, Valve seals etc) Anyone got a part number for this set, and a cambelt kit?

Rep awarded for any help,

Cheers :)

Head set 04112-11091

Timing belt 13568-19106
Idler pulley 13503-11030
Tensioner pulley 13505-11040
Tensioner spring 90506-16050

It would probably be cheaper to invest in a timing belt kit from one of our traders though.

Cheers, if i buy the head set do you think its worth me swaping the Valve stem seals on cylinder 2, to see if it resolves the problem, and if it doesnt can i remove them and reuse them on my spare head?

Just thinking it may be easier/cheaper then swapping the head if its not needed?
