Engine Problem - Second Cylinder Overfueling?

Any other ideas?

First check your oil to see if it is thinner and smells of fuel and change it if that is the result. Also what heat range plugs are you using??? You could go one range hotter for that cylinder and if the plug is clear after doing this, then that should point to a sticky valve.

Cheers, is there any other ways of checking for a 'Sticky Valve' ?

swapping the injector over to the next cylinder mate, and then seeing the condition of that plug after youve run it for a bit like that

But ive changed the injector and its made no difference so obviously not an injector problem? Unless there is a problem with the injector wiring?

If it was a wiring problem I would have thought you'd also have the same problem with cyl4.

Have you tried swapping over 2 plugs in case it is that plug?

If you have, I would do another compression test, engine warm and throttle fully open. After doing the test, pour about 1 tablespoon of oil into cylinder 2 through the spark plug hole and check the compression in that cylinder again.

If the test result is higher, you probabaly have a cracked piston, broken piston ring or worn rings.

If not there is a good chance you have a sticking valve, it is really hard to find without removing the cams and buckets so you can see the tops of the valves.

It sounds like you've ruled out the spark plug, injector, distributor cap and HT lead, so as above I'd start looking for a problem with the engine in that cylinder.

Is the engine burning/using any oil at all?

Cheers for the relpys guys, well i did another comp test and the second cylinder compression is fine (same as others), so now i think it must be fuel realated as i have tried eveything with the ignition system.

The fuel consumption is really shit aswel, done about 30 miles from a tenner and fuel light is back on :(

Any other ideas, also if one cylinder is running rich will this cause the ecu to lean out the rest of them to try meet its target AFR while i am cruising (not WOT) as i have just been driving it steady and its using alot of fuel?

Thanks

yeh it will lean the mixture right out, thats why ur other plugs are very white. theres 3 lean cylinders and one very rich one. itts deffo pointing to a dodgy injector, but seein that uve changed it i dnt no wots goin on. try swaping the injector to a different cylinder, and swapping the plug to a different cylinder too. hav u fiddled with the wring to them recently?

try taken out that injector and use a compressor 2 blow out the end where it joins the rail.. if u look closely there is a filter there.. could b clogged.. is the plug carboned up or is it wet.?

Im not sure i just swaped the injector with one from another engine i had, i cant see both injectors being the same, unless this is a common thing?

not 2 sure mate but the plug looks manky.. hope its not piston rings goin cause u said the pressure test u did on that cyclinder was down compared 2 the others..

I done another test today and both 1st and second went to 175 PSI so im guessing the Rings etc are fine.

its a tough one.. keep posting mate.. im sure someone will kno exactly wats up.. all my problems were solved here.. i had a major fuel problem till i realised the fuel gauge was faulty and had no petrol.dismantled most of the fuel system before i realised.. DOH!!!:homer: hopefully its something simple..best of luck

Cheers buddy, so people any more ideas??

change injectors on the same engine.. and see what happens. if the same cylinder still is over fueling.. check the connection.. i don't know much about electricals but would test the connection with a multimeter while the engine is running on 3 cylinders and then try the same on another connection and see if the results are the same. hope you understood what im trying to say lol
