Nick,

Thats a pity.
Where are you exactly? Just out of curiousity.

I should be getting a cable asap, and a laptop when i pull my finger out......

Rory

I've driven down to meet Nick before. It's about 3 hours from Edinburgh mate.

Easy drive, M6 most of the way. Tank of petrol each way roughly.

Unfortunatly ill not be there! Are you there with the Superbikes?

I have one on oreder, but its not here yet :(
I have no laptop either, but thats easy to get one.

Cheers for the offer, just remember to pack wet weather gear! Knockhill has its own weather system!

Yeah we have one on order for you mate, I did look to see if we had a spare one here but Ed only has the one he uses. Maybe craig could send it over in the mean time to help. It looks like a tuner needs to play with the base settings I know Ed spends a good half hour on the laptop before he starts them up.

Would love to watch the bikes as well too far though :( Also Nick they will be here for next Friday.

Thanks,

t

Hey Tobs

Any idea when it will in?
Ill speak with my tuner next week, when he is back at the garage, and see what he thinks, and wants to do. And see if he can shed any light on the matter.

im swaying towards the parrameters not being set up, there for not letting the car fire, but then again, i have no spark at the plugs...... Wheres my multi meter...........

While your waiting for the lead etc get the multi meter out and just check for a break in any of the wire's, mainly the ignition wires bud.

I've never tryed to fire a 4E up with a EMU without already going into the parameters as thats what we always do first.

Many Thanks

If the parameters have not been setup the emu will NOT work... there is no chance in hell it will..
Rory the map i had sent u, upload that one (somehow into ur ecu) & just negate all the values in the timing chart, ie put everything to Zero & i bet my left ball it will work!

The dip switches have no say in the car starting or not, parameters or not installed... im sure uw wireing is correct since its been installed by toby & im sure hes done more before.. for the iginiton module to work it needs to have the crank & cam angle timing signals coming from the emu.. otherwise its as good as a nice shiny box...

As others have said, the EMU will need a base map to start with. It will do nothing without. I don't supply base maps as they are different to each car, and people rely on them too much. EMU can be a minefield too for those who don't know what their doing with them with potential to do great damage, which unfortunately due to liability reasons means I can only offer limited advice with setup.

**Update**

I done as Kon said, and yep im as happy as Larry!
Uploaded the parrameters and away she went. Bless...

Never uploaded the maps though, left them as is.

So the next Q being, when i change the injectors and change the parameters to suit, can the car be driven 6 miles or so (Not hard driving) just so i dont have to change everything at the tuners?
Saves time at both ends.

Thanks for all the input people.

gud u sorted bud :D

what injectors are u putting in?

its very simple, so set the base pressure at 2.5bar...

go on the parameters values & change the i/j lag times so that u get the new injectors to work like 295cc's

it should look something like this (EXAMPLE ONLY!)

before 295cc after 324cc
0.20ms 0.00ms

basically u ONLY increase the values on either side, now iv tried many things, if u adjust the lag time on the "after" area ur not gonna be happy.. coz it will rich things out, throughout the rev range,

with ur wideband in hand, slowly increase the values (in 0.05ms steps) till u get around 14.7~15.5 AF) on idle & drive normally to ur tuners :) that way u shouldnt have any problems at all boss...

just remember to change the ignition reading (on parameters page 1) to read ignition otherwise ull have bad values & cant use launch control ;)

Perfect.

Yeah i know where to change the injector parameteres from 295cc to the 550cc i will be running, but the wideband is having a hissy fit....... :( So that kinda rules that one out! :p

I almost forgot to chage the RPM to the ignition.... Good point. Will change that before i go.

hmmm if u cant sort out the i/j lag times, i think it would be a good idea to leave the stock ones on, drive to the tuner & then lump in the 550cc's.. that way im sure u wont have any problems lol :D

Thats the plan now anyway.
