who knows? Guess its less important then having the wheels hub centric, but i done it just to tidy it all up etc. Escially with the clearances being so tight too what with the calipers being for 256mm discs and these are 260

Gee the prius discs i told you to get have the correct centre bore already so no need for the spagot rings :p

But they are a few MM off the mark, safety first!

Do the Celica discs not have the correc centre bore?

lol not being funny but surely thats just as dangerous as using a discs thats 2mm off perfect :p as long as your gettin them balanced too...

3G are doing it..as quoted:

"The new holes do come close to the original holes but it shouldn't be a major problem as the holes are only for clearance and take no load."

From what I have quoted, I would say new holes...as they say they are close to the originals.

I'M defo am noT running thinner discs:

running a thinner rotor can cause the pads to come lose when there almost worn out or in the worst case fall out.

No thanks :D

Who sprouted you that bollocks about the pads falling out Gee?

Yeah sure maybe they would if the disc was major undersize, but we are talking a few mm here.

In fact, my AW11 carriers which are for 22mm discs have nearly as much clearance as the ST185 ones, probably about 1mm less.

The pad wont have full contact with the disc either, more so when it starts to wear down?

I'd rather not risk it anyway and I am not going to shame people with their quotes :p

Gee for f@ck sake will you put the brakes on the car, if you dont like them you can take them off.

The bolts that your current calipers are bolted on with will do for the new ones.

All the clips you will need are with the pads.

The studs you were loking at will not do a good job. You need the studs that stay bolted into the hub to make it easier to get the wheels on. Please do not make this simple mod any harder for yourself.

The part number for the pads is BPS1046
This will get you standard pads, dont buy from Toyota, twice the price and only as good as most aftermarket ones.

As far as locking up is concerned, most brakes will lock up if you stand on them fiercely, if you put the pressure on gradually, let the weight of the car transfer to the front and then apply more pressure, these will stop you in no time.

OK, I will look for some other studs, not sure which your talking about, the ones pictured look exactly like my stock ones?? Know where I can get any extended studs from and what length I need?

I also need to get all the bolts for the carriers to bolt to the calipers.

Thanks for the part number on the pads.

I would trial fit etc, but I have never changed pads or discs nevermind removed calipers. I am no mechanic, I know what things do, but not necceseraly how to remove/fit etc and dont have the luxery of a second car or garage for when I fuck things up through error.

I want to make sure I have everything gathered before taking the bits to be fitted.

Just read this and have to agree, theres not a chance in hell they would fall out and as dan said its better running the slightly thinner disc's than having 5stud disc's redrilled for 4stud.

I'd go with how dan has his setup as hes had no problems and he showed me the brakes, they work well :)

Also why wont the pad have full contact with the disc? that doesnt make sense...
