I would trial fit etc, but I have never changed pads or discs nevermind removed calipers. I am no mechanic, I know what things do, but not necceseraly how to remove/fit etc and dont have the luxery of a second car or garage for when I fuck things up through error.

I want to make sure I have everything gathered before taking the bits to be fitted.

hey mate,

if you come up to bolton ill fit them for ya dude so you dont have to pay a garage to do it.

Just read this and have to agree, theres not a chance in hell they would fall out and as dan said its better running the slightly thinner disc's than having 5stud disc's redrilled for 4stud.

Something I read mate, I have no clue. Why is drilling 3 holes in the disc that take no load dangerous? Others here and on other forums have done it and done trackdays with no issue. Do they need balancing or something?

Thanks for the offer mate, I'll see how far away you are from me!

The problem is not the fitting thou, it's getting all the bits together! I want to use extended studs, foudn some on Ebay but apprantly they won't do? But they look exactly like my stock ones??

Once I have the studs, I can get the rest of the bolts from Toyota, then all I need are discs and pads!!

i live about 45 mins from huddersfield uni, only know because i used to drive there everyday lol

Im pretty sure those studs will fit, only issue is because there an interference fit into the hub im not sure how easy it will be to get them in and out.

Wont the starlet bolts fit (the ones that bolt the carrier to the hub and the calliper to the carrier) cant see why they wouldnt.

The only issue with drilling the disc is there quite a lot of torsional load (obviously lol) so removing too much material might be quite bad but drilling a few extra holes wouldnt be too bad i wouldnt have thought. Obviously depending how close they are to the stock holes.

Me personaly i would use the thinner discs only because then everything would be spot on and you wouldnt have to worry about discs breaking (even though i doubt they would)

just for peace of mind really.

Not far from me then.

I am looking in to some Maza discs at the moment that apprantly should fit. Will let you all know.

Dan said he used his standard studs, but would like some extra length :)

depends what ya wheels are like and what nuts your using etc so your stock ones might be okay either way you want a good few threads on there for obvious reasons,

you could try mocking them up with stock studs and see what theyre like, if there okay fine but if they need changing over then put the longer ones ones on.

If we are talking about spacing the wheels 3mm i cant see a problem with standard studs full stop. In fact, i still gavet replaced my studs... I fitted 4x AW11 studs to one side as a isheared a EP82 one and wasnt taking chances with the other 2. The AW11 ones are about 5mm shorter then EP82 ones and i dont have any problems.

Just get your bits on and see how it looks with the stock studs. Or better still go to toyota and ask if they have info on for example, celica studs etc etc find some that are longer ;)

If not, try a scrap yard! I might look this weekend if can.

I personally wouldnt buy any studs off ebay unbranded ones, as well, they could well be made of cheap monkey metal, and id rather have shorter toyota studs then cheese long ones.

Gee what mazda discs are you looking at?

Dan are the pruis discs the right offset too then mate?

Mazda 323 discs, same thickness as Pruis so no difference.

I don't know what studs I am looking for..the ones I posted apprantly wont bolt to the hub which will make taking the wheels of hard??? I can't see the difference between them and stock!

BTW, what is the centre bore of the Pruis discs? My car is a 96 Glanza, so I think it has 55mm centre bore, where as EP82's have 54mm centre bore?

Gee the problem is you will have no studs sticking out from your hub if you use these. With these you need to remove the stock studs, the fit spacer, then disc, then caliper with pads. Then you have to get your wheel centered, holding it there as there are no studs to hang it on, line up one hole of the wheel with the right one on the disc AND the spacer.

Not easy mucker. Putting the brakes on is probably easier.

There are only 2 bolts to hold the caliper to the carriers, the other bit just pushes on. Toyota is your best bet.

I see what your saying John.

I am going to get a Toyota stud and have a look at it and compare, but the studs on Ebay have a flat end just liek the Toyota ones...
