Hi guys just finished buildin my new gt, had it started buteven once warm the idle was staying around 1200, then i took it for a quick drive and it started droping and rising when i came to a junction?

So what do i need to look for ive checked pipes for leaks and i cant seem to find any? Also which is the idle control valve as the engine had been sat for some time before i put it in my car, jut wondered if cleaning this may help?

Cheers

can also be caused by boost leaks and also running "sounds" etc. that will use power.

Craig

Could that include the earthing, how many earthing points are there on a stock gt, and where are hey located?

Also which is the ICV?

ICV is at the left on the inlet mani mate and a bad earth on the gearbox can apparently cause this aswell as air in the coolant (happened to me) faulty sensors etc!

check the timing isnt out, if it's one tooth out on the belt, you will get this symptom.

it's fine when cold, but after driving and it's fully warmed up you will have this symptom.

happened to me, took me ages to figure out why

put engine in tdc via the crankshaft pulley.

on the camshaft pulley, there is a hole just above the 4e mark (from memory)

in the middle of that hole you should be able to see a small dimple that is embossed in the head.

that dimple should be bang in the middle of the hole in the camshaft pulley.

if you cant see this dimple through the hole your timing is out.

HELPFUL HINT: nick your gf's or mums make up mirror to look through the hole in the camshaft pulley, trying to do it by eye is near impossible.
