How reliable is your car?

Have you ever had 1 year without spending any money on the car?

[doesn't include the mods - for example if you went from the top mount to FMIC but the top mount was in good condition].

apart from general servicing like oil changes and stuff i dont spend hardly any money on replacing parts that are worn out/damaged.

i have never had any of the starlets break down on me.

Went for 2 years & 40,000kms with only oil changes on my daily auto. Got bored of it standard and started modifying. Funny how things started failing shortly after that lol.

Don't modify and it'll usually hold together. Remember that even the youngest of these cars are now over a decade old so they are entitled to a bit of TLC once in a while.

Thanks for your input guys!

Jay and if anyone else had the same problem what exactly did you modify and what exactly went wrong? Thanks a lot!

When i got my car back from having the 3S conversion it was so reliable for 8 months until i changed the exhaust without mapping it and fucked everything up lol...

When it was stock for a year it was also so reliable... So yeah, good little car!

Made it handle better and a wheel bearing died.
Made it go faster and the gearbox blew up.
Made it look better and someone tried to sell it.

reliability challenge

on a scale of 1 to 7 with 1 being most reliable and 7 being least reliable, i'd rate mine at 2.. :)

these cars are as trustworthy as a bloodhounds and it's only when you take them out of their natural habit of stock that they can become a little erratic.. :D how true.. they're fine until you start the modding.. :p

Strange. I heard one tuner said - Exhaust would not make any difference when mapping the car!!!

Was it an auto gearbox or a manual? How reliable is the Auto??? Would that be ok with 200 bhp?

1 to 7 scale

Spacecraft - what I scale - 1 - 7???? why 7?
I'd say 1 - 10 or 1 to 5, but WHY 7????

7 is my favorite number :) ..and it also allows you to sit perfectly on the fence (midway in between both extremes) at 4 - if you are totally undecided about how reliable your wheels are.. :D

well, i have been doing some modifying over the year ive owned it...so i dont really fit in...

but my 96 tercel with an ep91 4efte just made 8 passes on the drag strip and made a 6-7hour round trip this last weekend...no problems occurred what so ever...so i would say its pretty reliable:rockon:
