How to fit Megasquirt to your 4EFTE

You show a picture of the DIY using the OEM connector but your using a jumper harness?
I thought if you use the DIY kit it just hook up to 4efte engine harness?

Oh and I'am chip18 on Tercelonline and we are disscusing the MS on there and one of the guys fitted a Bosch Saprk Box to the stock ignition on his 3efte and used a MS configured to run the Bosch Box spark. As I understand it no other changes needed.

DIY PNP will plug in to stock loom. The normal DIY kit with the DB37 need wirings wiring with the jumper harness.

Ok so that was just a picture of the DIY Plug and Play and not the actual unit you were using correct?
If you could look into the Bosch Spark Box, could you give feed back on wither or not this would work for the 4efte? It works with the 3ee so 3efte and I think in the US the 5efe has the same setup.
So I am asking if you can convert a 4efte to use the Bosch Spark Box? I am thinking that way yu can order a DIY Plug and play using the Bosch spark box and not have to reconfig a bunch of circuitry in the MS to run the Toyota ignition system.

i am running the V3.0 board which is why i have to use a jumper harness.

with the DIY kit, its just plug and play.

Edit: in the link you posted that guy is running MS1, I'm running MS2Extra

with regards to the bosh spark module all it is doing is replacing the ignitor.....

on a 4efte you will still need to make the extra VR circuit as this distributor uses two sets of VR sensors.

on the 2e/3e and the regular 4e/5e their distributors use only 1 VR sensor so the V3 MS board will work with those setups without modifications

so if you are going to modify the circuits to use the bosh module may as well just modify it to use the toyota ignitor as you would already have the toyota ignitor in your car and modifications to fit each will be the same.

regular 2e/3e and regular 4e/5e all have different ignition setups compared to the turbo versions.. 2ete/3ete and 4efte

BTW when ordering the DIYPNP kit from DIYautotune you can ask them to supply the extra circuits you may need in the kit as well.

Thanks I see that now. I assumed the 4efte had the same ignition as the 3ee. My 4efte is on the stand. I the 3ee has an integral coil and I was looking at a DIY on converting the 3ee to an external coil. I went to the garage and looked at the 4efte to see if I could the same and I found out it was an external coil! Opps.

So I have the 4 pin TPS OEM 4efte, can I just order the DIY Plug and Play for the Tercel?
I don't see the 4efte listed on the DIY site.

Oh and my car is a 4 speed the stock wring harness for my 4efte, is for an automatic is that going to be a problem when I order a kit?

the kit for the tercel would be wired differently as it wont need the extra VR circuit and the pinouts for the ecu are different.

the 4efte is not listed on the site as no one has built one as yet.
(i just can't afford to buy one now :) )

if you have the skills you could order it in kit form and build it yourself to match the 4efte. if not i don't know if the guys at DIYautotune would build one to your specs for you.

is your auto ecu a 3 plug or 2 plug one.... the 3 plug ones use a different pinout from the 2 plug ones so the pinouts for the kit would have to be modded to suit.

The engine is a two plug I have a 2 plug 4efte ECU, the engine is an automatic but no tranny so I was just going to use the 3ee tranny for now.

The only thing I know is the DIY Kit plugs into the original OEM connectors. Not really sure what kit to order and yep I can build it myself.

Oh and on your harness the guys on Tercelonline are wondering if you put shrink tubing on your harness?

well if its the 2 plug ecu then just use the wiring pinout i posted above.

the N76 kit is what you will need to order.
ps. there will be a few unused plugs left out as the kits are designed to fit multiple cars.

i use shrink tubing on the harness i built for my friend but i just used silicone on my own..... :haha:

Oh silicone! Aww would not shown on pictures cool! Ok so this thread is what I need then!
It's mostly the iginiton system that has me confused. Injectors and sensors I understand but the ignition hook up is all black box stuff. But I can follow directions thanks.
