IF your Iphone isn't jailbroken yet you ain't seen the full potential of it yet.

Its the same as a mighty 4efte..........when you upgrade it internally you will seen its full potential if you dont' you will have the same as toyota wanted you you to have initially....so go ahead..just do it you will enjoy it

Is there the still the risk of bricking the iphone if your jailbreak it?

Also, what's the story if your phone goes tits up and you need to take it to the apple store?

If you need to take it back you just connect it to itunes and do a restore to the latest version of software and it is back to normal.

I am not sure what the hype is about jail breaking iphones. I have two here one is normal and one is jailbroken. The normal one does everything I need it to do and runs more smoothly. The broken one cant have the software updated or it will be locked again and so it runs clunky and buggy.

Apps are like $1 - $2.99 they all come with demos to try before you buy so in my opinion its not worth it just to get those apps for free. Sure there are other things you can do with it but I dont need it for any of those things so Ill keep it locked :)

I have a 3gs jailbroken and also have insurance on it (£6 a month) so if the phone goes tits up or i 'lose' it i pay 25 and get a new one!, I've had mine jailbroken since I got it and had no problems at all, it updates all applications via itunes etc, runs as smoothly as it ever has, is a lot more customisable and apps are free! :)

If you've updated to 3.1.3 you'll need a mac to jail break and if your still on 3.1.2 you can do it via pc or mac with blackra1n takes about 15 seconds and easy to remove, just re-run it!

Will I lose any data? If you back up the iphone before restoring, will it stay jailbroken? Can you still sync your phone like normal?

I want to try jailbreaking mine, but I want to be able to put it back to normal with reletive ease.

If you backit up you should be fine and if you restore it will no longer be jailbroken as far as im aware.

with blackra1n im more than sure if you've jailbroken it you can re run the program to unjail break it, not 100% if the new version does though, although you can download the firmware/do a restore via itunes and it'll be back to original.

Premium insurance and I have one with o2, the premium insurance is £15 to claim but i'll be cancling that as it's 15 a month!

Okay cool. So does the phone still sync with itunes as normal once jailbroken?

02 wanted like £12 a month for insurance. I don't have any but ought to get myself some. I am on my second phone in 4 months. 1st 3Gs kept playing funny buggers, second one isn't much better to be fair. Sometimes just vibrates even though its on loud. Won't make calls, texts or receive them, so I have to turn it off and back on again.

almost wish I went for a Nokia M900 instead but it's not out on 02.

www.iphoneunlocking.com is the best place mate. pay via paypal or card 20quid. download the software, then in minutes your good to go :):freddy:

Wooow no way fella Jailbraking software of which there are 3 at the mo (blackrain, redsnow & snowbreeze) is foc so never pay for it ive done it for every single firmware now apart from the latest which is 3.1.3 as i just havnt got round to it, if u want any advice on this luk up this fella on youtube Dino Zambas step by step vids =) helped me all the way when i first started this game and still does to this day and as for bricking them wtf im pretty sure it was some bull made up by apple so ppl dont do it haha.

Yeah should do mines always sync'd fine although I don't use itunes anymore and downloaded sharepod works a lot nicer! ether that or filezilla ftp I hate the fact itunes deletes files off your iphone if you remove them from your libarary lol, I had that problem with the vibrate on loud/not sending/recieving text's, stangely enough jailbreaking and unlocking seems to have cured both!

They want £12? Think mine's half price from loyaty or something like that! It's pretty simple tbh, only thing I'd say is if you've the latest version of the 3gs if you reboot/battery runs out/you turn it off, I think you'll need to run blackra1n again and that takes all of 15 seconds!

Rich.

i cant understand it either? really dont see the point in turning my smooth running super fast iphone that does everything i need it to do into a shit ass slow windows PC type 'smartphone' cause that is effectively what it makes it. shit and buggy and unpredictable.

My Iphone's never been shit/slow/buggy in the slightest lol!

EDIT: Except before I jailbroke it - wouldnt recieve txt's or send them occasionally and often vibrated instead of made a noise when on loud - fixed after jailbreak, well havn't encounted it since!

I can see the point if there is something you actually need it unlocked for but if its working fine and does everything it needs to I dont see the point really. If apps were 50quid a pop Id say okay do it for the free apps but they are cheap... really really really cheap so I dont mind paying for them.

Its kind of like people who go and overclock PCs and you ask them what apps they are running the needs the processor and ram clocked so much and they blankly look at you.

My gf uses the jailbroken iphone 3G here as it was locked to AT&T and she uses her vodafone sim in it when back in Ireland so there is a need to have it jailbroken but she cant update the iphone software as new updates come out as it will be locked again.

Mine is not broken and works fine. Each to their own :) Just when people say things like the iphone only comes alive when you jailbreak it I think they are kind of over exaggerating a little.
