Hi all,

I have recently purchased my Starlet. It is a GT turbo with 4E FTE 1,3 16v motor. I have purchased a Air search Turbo with .48 exhaust housing and .48 pressure housing. I have also aquired a nice front mount intercooler and HKS dump valve. Please can you help me with answers for the following Q's;
a) Has anyone useda turbo this spec and can you give me some feedback.
b) What is the highest I can boost without changing the std ECU and injectors.

I am intending on going the hog as soon as finances allow it i.e. new ECU, injectors, fuel pump but want to keep the internals stock until the need for more power bites me, however what can I expect to get power wise leaving the internals stock with only bolt on goodies.

Welcome, check out the section "turbo/engine/fuelling" and then FOA, most of your questions will be answered in there and it will point you in the right direction.

Hi,

Thanks for the info, I have read and have learnt plenty, very helpfull. I have also seen the restriction on the std cast manifold and have wondered what to do. I have decided (because of budget) to have a 25mm flange which suites my Airsearch turbo (new one) cut by an engineering shop which I am having welded to the std manifold by a specialised welding shop. they are also going to weld up the std stud threads and the restrictive protusions I am then going to have ported away. Do yo have any comment on this??

should work as long as no leaks etc. I just had my standard mani ported in the no.3, but has to be done carefully so as not to weaken it, some guys weld it on the outside to re-inforce it. Here we gota make our own plans, ha ha. You in gabs?

Yes I am in gabs, nice place, originally from SA (JHB). Here we fortunately have the benifit of being able to get imported cars cheap, I paid P19000.00 about $2750.00 US. Not bad and I had bought the torbo originally to convert a 1300 opel Corsa to turbo but the problem is that there is so much to upgrade before you can actually start thinking of puting some boost where there was none. Have you been in Namibia long or are you local to that area.
