Engine size/type: 1.3 turbo

Any mods:full exhaust system, uprated manifold, front mounted intercooler, trd ignition leads are the main ones!

Type of use (road/track) very fast road use!:p

Additional info (max oil temps, current oil used) not sure on temps currently using 5w40 millers fully synthetic and not sure on the box.

What do you want a recommendation for?
is that oil ok for the engine?

Hi John

A 5w-40 synthetic is ideal for the engine.

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx

Out of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Millers XFS, Fuchs Supersyn, Shell Helix and Mobil Super 3000 are good, cheaper alternatives.

You need a 75w-90 for the gearbox.

If you want to go for the best, the Millers CRX 75w-90 NT, Gulf Competition, Motul Gear 300, Redline MT90 and Millers TRX are ideal for the gearbox. The Castrol Universal, Motul Motylgear and Fuchs Gear Syn are all decent alternatives. They should also be fine for the gearbox with LSD, but you may want to go for something like the Millers CRX LS, Motul Gear 300LS, Fuchs Syn 5 or Gulf Competition LS if the LSD is fitted.

Cheers

Hi

You could use a 0w-40, but with the forged set up, you might well find you get some pison slap on cold starts. I'd go for a good 5w-40.

quick question on forged engine oil. i currently use mobil semi synthetic cheap stuff but change it every thousand miles. running a lot of boost though and always wondered if running a top synthetic oil would help with bearing wear as we all run acl standardish bearings and race ones arent available.

A top end oil will offer better protection to the bearings and in a car as modified as yours, I'd definately use a good oil. Unless you are having fuel dilution issues or anything like that, you can leave it in a lot longer than 1000 miles with a top oil.

Engine : 4EFTE
Running on 1.2 Bars Stock internals on a TD04 . The car is used for Drags . I am also running an oil cooler as well .

I use Caltex 20/50 Oil . But now my friends are saying its too thick ? and not recommended for 4EFTE, and will increase the wear and tear ?

I have been using this for the past 2 yrs with no problems . Now i am confused as to what should i use . My old mechanic use to say that all high mileage engines requires thick oil to run for a long time . I am seeking some professional help .

A 20w-50 is a really thick oil and not what I'd suggest. I would think a quality 10w-40 synthetic would be the best option, but it depends on how hot the oil is getting.

While cruising the temps hover at under 55-65C . While on full boost they get as high as 80C .

I can get hold of 10/30 or 10/40 as well ?
