picked up my ep82 today, brilliant news , really fast top mods etc boosts brillantly , driving home suddenly the throttle goes, no acceleration so i roll to a stop, have a look under car nothing is leaking etc, no smoke , rattles bangs nothing, try to start the car and now it wont start, cambelt is turnin, spark plugs sparking, just no fuel pump priming noise, can someone please tell me where the fuse for it is so i can check the fuse and also ,where or how to try and figure out to make sure i dont go spend 70 pound on a fuel pump when not needed, oh by the way only had this car a day and spent 3 hours in the cold stuck on a road nowhere near my home waiting to get towed :'(

or any other ideas

i would check the EFI fuse in the fusebox on the right hand side of the engine bay and then go from there.

i had to take it to a garage to get it diagnosed 7 fault codes which they sorted , but they also did a compresion test which was a fail , so now i need a new fucking engine or it rebuilt, with no money etc ! so im screwed over big time ! it might be valves or pistons it might be both it might even just be a cambelt but until the head comes off there is no telling so hopefully the head will be off friday and then i can see the internal damage ! cant believe it went ! not like i was even giving it hell and razzing the rpm over time ! i was just crusing along and now this! no money no car, no nothing :'(

That is shit man, sorry to hear. Its worse that you weren't even thrashing her:(,
such is the 2nd hand car sale business.

They are awesome cars and usually very reliable, let's hope you get it sorted soon.

You dont need to remove the head to check the cam belt, just the top cam belt cover.

Also, E series engines are non interfeerence, so that means the valves and pistons cant touch each other as would be the case in other cars.

Take your car off these dicks and give it to someone who knows a thing or 2 about Toyotas, sounds like they are trying to fleece you.

before stripping it apart you wanna no what sort of problem your looking at, what were the 7 faults they diagnosed & what were the compression test results, what cylinders were low, if its got or had a fcd or upped the boost without fuelling mods (by the owner before) then your most probably looking at headgasket/ piston ringland damage, the cylinders with low compression try putting some oil down them see if it raises compression which will tell you if its ringlands etc. at least it'l point you in the direction of the problem before you strip it down, nothing worse than stripping an engine & not knowing what the problem is/was.

X2 I would get the car back and do some check yourself before you go any further, could save you alot of money ;)

ok well let me shed some more light on this the cambelt has alot of scuffs on looks like it been hitting somthing i wonder if its skipped a few teeth if so how wats the likly hood of the valves hiting pistons or have they got a massive gap between them

as weeJohn said they are non-interference engines (inless heavily skimmed) so should only need a cambelt replacement if that's all thats gone.

well im going to check the cambelt to see if its timed up properly as that could eb the problem it needs changing anyway

it did have a HKS FCD but thats removed now not sure if the boost was up cause the previous owner said at around 0.8 the fuel cut out so he coudlt boost any higher, but then we removed the manual boost controler and it boosted up to 1bar then got the cut out, but like i say the manual controller and fcd are gone now so when the engine is back up and running ill keep it at 0.5 bar like i was running it on the way home with no problems at all , if i put my foot down it just seems to hover over around 0.5 and doesnt really go up any higher on the gauge any ideas as to wyh or what i need to help fuelling so this problem doesnt happen again ?

does it have a normal actuator or does it have an adjustable hks one?? what other mods does the car have?? standard boost is 0.6 on high and 0.45 on low
