there are cars out there running on water boys so dont be relying on petrol 40 years is along time to sort out a more high potent fuel:)

as for the main question i wont be getting rid of my car unless i need money for food if i want to change what i drive i will just store it up i have plenty of space

@ Paul jj, google isn't the best place to be doing your research as any muppet can write shit and pass it off as fact, show me something peer reviewed and I'll pay you more attention,

GT Irl is a geologist akaik, I think he and a few of the fellas who work on the rigs have their finger in the pulse alot more than you.

Do you seriously think if oil was going to run out in ten years that we would be paying the prices we are now?

I don't want to spend my time to prove to you that I am right. Let's wait for 10 years and see! Anything can happen!

GT IRL mentioned 40 years, but also mentioned that it would cost more to find oil and of course don't forget the government - this year tax increase - what they push people to run their cars on the alternative fuel, that is why the TAX on LPG has been frozen till 2015.

I can even have a bet with you let's say J10 + rep, that more than 50% of UK cars in 2020 will run on Alternative Fuel!

Regarding the topic - sorry we went a bit offtopic but it's sort of make sense as no petrol = no starlets -)

By the way I plan to convert my Glanza V to LPG, will see how it RUNS as LPG has octane number 115, one thing for sure it will last longer than petrol -)

I have had to sit through many energy conferences as i work for an energy consultancy, and from what i've heard from various experts, there's way more than 50+ years left. There's billions of barrels sitting in storage which could be introduced into the UK market to reduce costs, but they aren't used - instead the price is just hiked up. OPEC is also at fault for not pushing oil producing nations to produce more barrels per day.

modern technology has also enabled companies to return to previously drilled wells and use new techniques to extract even more oil from what was depleted wells already, and there's many new recently discovered wells out there being drilled.

10 years left - what a load of rubbish

starlets are dead all chav'd up, VTAK FTW ALL DAY, EVERYDAY, EVERYDAMM DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

vtec LOL,

im pretty sure starlets will be with us for another 5 years i guess :p
you think 10 years is pretty good, because the way petrol is going now with prices and more cars coming on the road, will they have enough of this shit to last us!?
me thinks its time to do some experiments to see what our car's can run on :haha:

I think I will be the first to move on to LPG. Will post all the details, but it will be next year!

Regarding the oil shortage, I found an interesting film (a bit boring, but with real facts), made by BBC (is it reliable enough? who knows). Recommend to all of those who think that we will have cheap petrol for the next 100 years!

And this one is about the alternative fuel and emissions! - I found it very interesting! Also about the car (Prius) which does 125MPG!

Yeah, I love my Glanza as well. My wife says that I love my car more than her -) I plan to make it LPG and make it powerful! In fact LPG extends the engine life as it has no deposits at all, would be interesting to see Decat on LPG - it might pass the UK MOT, so the car would be legal DECAT.

I want an EVO as a next car as well -)))))
