timimg is better on 20 degrees on a 5e ?

come to do my timming last weekend and found it on 20 degrees if there was a 20 degrees marking on the bottom cam cover i set it to 10 degrees well the gun to 0 bottom to 10 as i know you can do it either way set the gun to 10 and marks to 0 any way after testing it i found it was rubbish and was better throttle on 20 so set it back to 20 and thought id ask if any one else has found this on there 5e

thanks dan

Dan dont be a muppet unless you wanna have 4 holes in your pistons from to much ignition advance you plank.

set it back to 10 just runs so rough hard to pull away were as on 15 it was fine like quite torquey now you got to rev it a bit more to put away its weird

ive just set it up as ive set it to 5e to try that bud when i mean rough i dont mean that bad just if you set it to 15 runs so so smooth and the throttle its totally diff ive noticed the dimple doesent always sit bang on in the middle of the hole sits very very slighty over to one side sorry i mean the camgear hole when you line it up with the dimple after rotating crank few times go to line it back up to check and it just sits slighty over to one side

try the 4E cam timing marks and see what happens, ensure the block is at 0

which ever timing u use....make sure its sitting exact on the block AND cam timing marks--if its one tooth out it will be crap

where is your distributor sitting on the adjustable arm?...is it skewed to one side a lot?....if so, your timing may be out somewhere, as it should be close to the middle area (where the two bolts hold it and allow it to rotate)

under no circumstances should u need to put it at 15 degs for it to run properly...even if using a complete 4efte oem ecu to run it

x2^^

9 out 10 times when the engine "seems to run better" on alot of advance and runs not so good on 10deg or less the timing is out...

in fact thats what most lazy mechanics do when they know they've messed up the timing. i.e they'll advance it alot instead of going back and set the timing etc:homer:

ive done to timming now 4 times to checki this the 5e campulley lines up with the dimple the second one were you look though the hole and the crank pulley lines up with that mark so thats all ok its set at ten it is better on 5e markings as im running speedvisions cams spuddy said it was better with them cams on 5e markings maybe its just were i havent driven it for so long but it runs ok just dont seem that torquey lol
