Well, not none at all, but very limited and no honda service history...

apparently the ex owner was a honda mechanic or summit and he did it all himself ..... sounds like a scam!! :p

Nice.

A lot of people actually do their own service though. I do with a mechanic friend of mine, so I don't have reciepts or anything. I just keep a log on a word document.

I hate how everyone are now looking into S2000's after I decided not to buy one LOL

Good luck mate.

I think insurance is still going to be a killer for me on anything half decent.

toying with the idea of just saving up for a deposit on a house! .. boring i know!

Can I just add mate my training partner just bought an s2000 earlier this year and a Honda service history is nothing to go on with one of those. They didn't have the 1st clue about them at all... You just need to read the s2k forums to understand the extent of it. great car but lack torque. We looked at 15 s2000s before we found only 1 that was in good condition! the rest were complete nails!.

Glad everything went smoothly :)

When I was selling my Glanza, I had a guy from Malta emailing me. I thought it was a scam as he wanted me to scan and sent him a full copy of my V5 doc :haha:

Nice S2000 but your right not to buy it. Cars like that need a detailed service history and it will be difficult to sell on. Excuses like "the previous owner was a Honda mechy" is just total B/S. Whats stopping him from taking the service book to his work to stamp it? :haha:

Booooo can't believe you went through with it pasty. :(

Yea i know! tbh, i never thought it would sell, only had about 3emails the whole time it was up for sale. One was him and the other two, typically, came yesterday after the car was long gone lol!

Never had a pm or anything from anyone on the site..

Yea, thats the main thing, if i need to sell it on, always looks a million times better if you have full main dealership service history.

Taken from what I posted on Danes thread. Should help you with what to look out for mate.

I would of had one of these, but decided against it as an everyday car. Needed some back seats too! Your keeping that Starlet though, so thats cool :)

Seems like that is one of the early first editions. Do some research mate, these are known to be a little twitchy, especially in the wet. The later editions had some suspension tweaks making them less prone to scary moments.

Read this PDF - http://www.s2kuk.com/technical/faq/s2000_tech_faq_030107.pdf

Lots of information in relation to running/maintenance and common faults.

The major one for the early S2000's is seizing suspension geometry adjustment bolts. I think your looking at like £1000 to sort out, so check this out before buying!

Some of the other common faults:

Idle / Hesitation / Kangerooing / Misfire Problems
Spring Spacers
Seizing Suspension Geometry Adjustment Bolts
MAP Sensor
Auto Window Function Fails
Premature Wearing of Hood
Heavy Clutch
Clonking Suspension
Squeaking Dashboard
Puddle in Passenger Footwell
Rattling Roof Catches
054/055 Clutch
Alloy Wheels
Locking Wheel Nuts
Gearbox
Headlamp Washers inc...
Disabling the Headlamp Washers

See the PDF for more detailed descriptions.

I wouldnt say the EK9 and S2000's are different leagues out of the box but are very different cars for obvious reasons.

The S2000 is undoubtly more beautiful (IMO) and has the better base of FR setup and 2.0L engine and 2.2L for the later models.

Stock EK9/S2000 times at Tsukuba:

EK9 - 1:09.48
S2000 - 1:07.92

I would of had a S2000 over an EK9 to be honest, but had to make some compromises, so EK9 it is and I'm happy.
