problem with some of the group buys is that the parts being sold can be got for the same price from other suppliers when you want rather than being tied into the contract of a group buy. im not naming any names but i have bought 2 items the same, 1 from ebay and 1 from a trader in a group buy. both identical items, but the ebay item was cheaper and i had it next day instead of waiting for a group buy.

you also have to bare in mind the type of people buying starlets now are alot younger and money is alot more scarce, credit crunch etc.

Im more than happy to offer as many GB's as possible but you just dont get the commitment these days. Then maybe 30mins later ill sell the parts i want to offer on GB for full price? Seems a shame when i want to offer as many as possible. I ask for idea's, take them on aboard, work away for hours or days pulling some together and then no1 wishes to be apart of the buy.

Its as simple as this lads starlet parts are over priced big time, and the group buys like 5 mani for 190pound each thats 1 mans handy days work with materials costing less than 190pound and thats for mild steel, dont get me started on the plug and play ecu look back at my last posts, truth be said a afraid.

I remember when i first joined, about 5, 6 years ago, if u wanted to go td04 it would of cost you thousands just for a td04 kit, now u can get kits cheap as chips, prob more td04'd starlets running about than ct9 starlets now :p lol, i dont think parts are too expensive, u get what u pay for at the end of the day.

you have to bare in mind that a jig has to be made, and once you add on the cost of the raw materials, paying the bloke to do it, the cost of the equipment and a profit margin those prices are perfectly reasonable for an almost custom item. alot are hand made and not exactly mass produced when compared to other parts for other cars.

the mass produced stuff is cheaper, like the td04 manifolds and downpipes on ebay. £160 for the 2 delivered is a bargain.

the plug and play ecu's are a little costly admittedly, but there is a reason and this has been covered by others in this thread so i wont repeat it again!

I'm still waiting on parts I ordered in the UK 1,5 years ago, I'll never ever buy stuff from the UK again. There's no communication, you never send parts with tracking numbers and it's always my fault because I don't live in the UK. I'll get reactions like "Yeah, well, you shouldn't live in the Netherlands, it's hard to send a package to the Netherlands". While I ordered parts from WEPR (FUCKING Sri Lanka) and it's free delivery and on my doorstep in 1 week.

In short: I don't trust the british anymore, unless it's a real company like sumopower, td-developments, etc.

problem in the uk is the postal service is shite and overpriced.

i have sent parcels abroad and been ok, but tracking them as soon as they get out of the country seems a nightmare unless you use an overpriced courier.

i have enough trouble sending stuff within the uk if i need to use a courier. i pretty much refuse to sell items if i need to use a courier to send it as they are awful :(

Robin who have you had bad dealings with over here? Have you contacted moderators and admin if it is someone or a trader on this site we need to work together as a community to protect each other.

Some of the good parts were cheaper back in the day due to the strong yen, ie parts from takakaira, greenline or Nengun or even when Toby had just started trading. For instance a Cruise bonnet for the glanza could be had new for £360 now they're £800 (if you can get one).

I would agree on the parts being generally more expensive due to the smaller tuning scene in japan for the starlets, the smaller the market the larger the cost. However parts are more readily available now but that's due to the tuning scene out of Japan improving for the starlets and the items which are more avaialble are one's which normal fabricators can make ie exhausts, intercoolers braces etc The actual "JDM" items are more expensive.

Would love to have heard you back when there was ZERO parts availability and no TGTT.

I remember when this were all but fields...

The "JDM" thinh im getting at is when they've already been fitted to 10+ starlets in the UK but still demand a high price. Like a cusco underbrace or panhard rod, been wahoo'd off all the curbs ect. then still wnat a decent price tag to sell it on "becasue its cusco", thats what im meaning.

Im just getting too old, and would rather pish my cash up another wall these days (hence selling up)

and dial up internet....

errrrrrr, "malcolm get off the internet we cant get any phone calls"

i honestly dont think prices are that bad, i look over at other forums and the mods are so expensive!

end of the day if you dont like the prices dont buy the stuff, simple as.

I totally understand where Iain is coming from with the group buys also, people are happy to put names down but not actually go through with it... there are certain people who i always notice saying they will buy cars...but never do..
