Im Sick Of Toyotagtturbo.com

I think possibly the main reason why people hate Honda threads or any related discussions about Hondas is purely the simple fact that this isent a Honda forum. I know its stating the obvious, but its the obvious reason why. We are enthusiasts of Toyota Starlets.

Well done sanchez, this is the type of feedback we need.

The one thing about this forum is that it has MASSES of information available to those that know how to find it. It's a large forum with alot of data floating aroung, the strange thing is that anyone who's used a forum before KNOWS there is a search function.

Maybe we could hyperlink simple phrases like "how do i get xxxbhp" to a part of an FAQ, I wonder how difficult that would be to impliment.

yeah i think thta would be good...... a FAQ's section!

lol was being serious whats the ek9 done wrong for you to hate honda? lol thought it was going sweet!

Nah its done nothing, never pisses me off really. I dont hate honda either i was only messing

But thats only lately cos of the recession :p They can get serious but they will still stop there (they cant throw fists to each other :) ) so its just forum talk

I use to be the first one to bait the hook for 3sgte and he fully swollows the hook on the honda arguments :p

I havent yet been effected by the recession so in my case its just simply reading poo that ticked me off. And yeah i can bite but remember if you look back at the threads i can also have a good joke about hondas as well. Im not bothered how they perform, i just know how they perform and i know i can drive the car to its potential. When people come on here saying they raced one once that had a B18C 200BHP and it was even with their stock starlet when ive got a 13.7 on that set up and keep up with 180WHP starletS then it gets to me. Because their information is incorrect. If it was correct and a stock starlet could do that it wouldnt bother me in the slightest. Its missleading information that winds me up and gullible people.

And to clarrify i cannot emphasis enough, I am not a honda fan!! I just own a type R model which performs very well in every aspect so it has my respect as a very well built car and performs, like any other car would get the same respect from me even if it was a frigging skoda. And im not being funny, you can dislike a make car by all means, but how on earth can you think a type R is shit whilst driving a starlet? Not like we drive ferraris here. Even though i much prefer my starlet, i would be a complete FOOL to think the type R is shit or hondas in general as they are extremly well thought out cars weather theyre your thing or not.

And alot of people have not had thaht attitude obviously with the exception of a few.

I think ive completely justifed myself but i know some will take what ive said wrong again as always.

People have me alll wrong.

Well I think this site is great! Yes, if you have been on here a long time, then the same questions will come up and yes, it would be good if people did check past threads for the same topics... but...

This is an enthusiasts site, people look for comments, advice and may have come across issues that maybe 2 years ago the answers would have been different, laws change, new parts are developed etc etc.

It is also a social site, a lot of people know each other and i know i have been trying hard not to laugh while reading through some of the threads when im meant to be working, and have had great fun at the meets.

The technical side is fantastic, but im no mechanic and there have been a few things that ive needed people to go into a bit more detail, no one has ever refused to help or said that ''well in march 2008 someone asked the same thing, go and check the link''

For all the new members, they may not do things that are to others liking, but at the end of the day they are still learning!! :) I have shit wheels and i know that when i have the funds, i will probably ask for others opinions for sizes/make etc...

ps.. I love you all :) xxx

First of all, well said Jonny! Someone had too say it:) I think the reoccurring trend here is problems with newbies! I mean we were all like that when we first got our cars so we cant blame them I guess, but you could put fresh members to the site on a sort of trial basis aith limited access, and maybe have a sepecific subsection where they can post and definitly an faq section would be really good!

Agree with this, could we not at least give it a trial period for newbies & get feedback as to if they thought it was ok???

In all honesty I am one of the newbies that were posting stupid threads lol

If my memory is correct my very first thread went straight to the muppet section :)

nah we dont have you wrong we know you speak from expiriance and as you say and most know hondas are anything other than shit cars , we all know they are very reliable and as an n/a engine there isnt many engines that come close to the tegra type r engine except a turbo starlet :)but as johnny said this is not germany so we all can talk about these things cos if you speak and we know that its true about how well your type r perform and can take a 180whp starbo there are others and say the truth too from their expiriance (not that with a standard starbo they keep with a type r) but with minimal mods like ecu and mani its possible even to beat one, as you said before it could be just a case but then that would work both ways . But we dont have you all wrong ;)

I agree with a lot of what is said, i may not have been on the forum as long as most but even in the year and a bit i have been on here i have seen all this happening as johnny said.

I think maybe a q & a filter that would come up automatically before members post to search first, that would eliminate the silly questions and a profanity filter for honda and vtec :haha: and for the record honda's are amazing machines :p any car enthusiast can see that.

I have found this forum to be an unlimited dictionary of starlet knowledge lol and if it wasn't for the forum i wouldn't have the incite i do now or have my car were i do now.

i see where your coming from dude,

but some of the experiences dont at up at all and are based on 1 event with no back up with evidance of any indication of the reality of it.

So for arguement sake, if i say i can get a 13.7 up the quarter that already backs up a few claims from my experience, and is very near the truth as a starlet over in the UK running 180WHP/210 Fly (estimates) will get similar if not worse. And when i have friends with that similar power output and others with stockish power and we go head to head i gather up a very good idea on whats what not just coming on here saying there was one time i raced an enzo ferrari in my civic and it was a good race and believed without a thought that ferrari may have had extreme engine issues or he wasnt trying.

Thats what im trying to say people come on here and make ridiculous claims with no back up, why?

Anyway this may be swaying a little so i dont wana take away the initial intention of this thread.

i think if the use of the search button was enforced more would resolve a lot of the issues mentioned above.
i know when i joined the old forum i was affraid to post for fear of being put down major league :shoot:

Well, I'll admit that I can't be arsed to read all the replies to this thread (blame the Guinness I've consumed...), but I get the general jist from the opening thread and the following replies...

It's true that the Starlet is more accessible to the general market now (something which I have to accept a little bit of responsibility for I suppose...), and accordingly, some 'new' owners don't seem to be able to grasp the true nature of Starlet ownership (questions relating to 'how much boost can I run' often cause me to whince for example). Yes, big wheels, excessive boost, and lairy paintwork won't cut it for all, but everyone has different tastes... We can't compare this site to the small little community it once was, the membership's too big now.

All we can do, is think back to how little we knew when we first picked up our keys, and came on here for help. People were here to help for us, and I hope that we'll be here to help for the newer owners. As frustrating as it is to see newbies join up, and watch as their first post asks why 19" wheels rub, and why 1.4bar of boost seems to make the pistons glow, but all we can do is try and help. If the new owner chooses to ignore us, then so be it. As Jay says, instead of saying 'search', why not try and help find a topic that can?

I'll admit, I've become despondant about the new breed of owners on here, but I've fallen into the same trap that everyone else has. All it needs is for a little love to be spread, and we may not cross swords as we have been.

Anyway... Enough's enough... Clearly Guinness truns me into a philospher, so I'm going to preach to the cat now...

The way i see it is if you see the thread and don't like it ignore it, or you could have when a new member registers have an email sent to them explaining the search button and what are common threads that pop up every day that people are sick of replying to, like explain that these sort of threads should be avoided.

dam u i was gona say that:p:p:p
totally agree m8 FAQ section wud be great and a link to it for the newbies, it aint been long since i noticed the search button, and im certainly responsible for some of the most common q's mainly did that cause the people on this forum are sooooo quick to help you that its just easier to start a threat.

+ every car will become available to every1 which means some little noob head will rag it and not take care of it, its worse for rs turbo owners:(
