My lack in boost pressure?

Point made! :homer: :D

What about any welds on your pipeing? Are they all ok? (Will be hard to see, but worth a shot)

:p

yeah ive even checked them too......! Ive wrapped up a couple of the samcos very tight with electrical tape to make even doubly sure there isnt a leak..... and poured water down the pipes to see if any escapes.... im going deep with is init lol!

ok here goes, im going to freeze again! bloody weather!, better yet, BLOODY CAR!!

Pouring water down the pipes wont really help.
Ideally there will have to be preasure behind it to push through, if see what i mean (think of a puncture in an inner-tube)

good point mate... but if hole was small enough not to let water seep through, will that tiny hole be enough to loose all boost pressure....?

well looks like the boost pipes is not the problem which is what was suspected a couple of pages ago..

im still under the impression its somthing with the turbo

Boost preasure woulld try and expand the pipes, and therefor open the split.

If anyone can tell me how a turbo wouldnt work, if the fins are all ok and it spins free then ill look into that, but i cant see how it can be that.

Are all gaskets ok on the inlet mani etc?

Right...

Ive put everything back together on the car and took it for a spin **without a bumper** lol, looked sooo cool! Anyyyyway...

The problem is there...... car still feels quick and responsive.. no missfire and engine sounds normal....!!? JUST NO BOOST AT ALL!! the back pressure on the boost gauge flys up but doesn't go over 0.0BAR!! this is so annoying....' the turbo makes a really loud noise where its supposed to be kicking in but 0 pressure :(

Rory i havent actually taken the manifold off. I did suspect a leak from the mani as that would loose pressure, theoretically resulting less pressure to hit the propeller shaft and lack off boost... But then i would still get boost pressure of some sort unless the the hole was as big as my hand......! which isnt the case....

Can the only other thing be the turbo? however much some of you are doubting? whats the next step...? take it to my trust worthy local mechanic? although he doesnt tend to like problems like these......

the only other thing will be the turbo mate.
given the symptoms and the stuff you have told us i belive it is the tubby!

Back pressure on the boost gauge? Do you mean goes from vacuum up to 0.0bar of pressure?

What noise is the turbo making, spooling or a horrid sound? Wailing sound?

y dont u just use that turbo that jules-b said you can borrow and then you know there and then if its the turbo or not. if it isnt cured then you gota be looking elsewhere

@gtti......... sorry mate thats what im meant.... goes from vacume to 0.0Bar..... and the turbo is making a loud wailing noise... doesnt sound normal, but isnt horrid.. just wales like you said......

And sorry when i mean fast i mean like say say a nippy N/A car like a saxo VTR or something.... what im trying to say is it doesnt feel broken or anything.. drives fine still with good response but obviously no proper power by no means as the turbo is doing feck all..... engine feels fine when driving it.... but with say 1/4 of the power.....

Just adding my 2p and past experience, only time i've not been able to go above 0.0bar of boost was when actuator arm came off and the wailing noise, last time it was an intercooler pipe that had popped off.

hope you find a solution to your problem soon mate, get the beast back on the road.

unfortunately my actuator arm is still in place and ive checked all pipes for leaks etc... :(

wailing noise

Usually indicates a turbo is on it's way out, dispite that I would still expect it to create some intake pressure above atmopheric. So leaves me a little bit confused to advise that it's the turbo.
