these gt/glanza v's civic threads are getting tiresome!:p Some excellent points made tho. IMO its every1's personal preference. I have a buddy with a teg type r and another buddy has vtec civic. Both fantastic cars to be in and to drive. I love their cars an they love my car. Each car has its own character...strengths and weaknesses but at the end of the day there all excellent cars! Can we agree on that?! Lets go bash corsa's and done up fiesta with neons...not JDM!:)

Cool i want 200 BHP to. im going down apexi power FC and a buddy club spec two head pack raise the CR. the only thing is V-tech is not so abrupt with the spec 2 cams. Thats what im going for so far, Theres more stuff to get but i need to do more reasearch.

The rev gauge is pants on them some are acurate some are not but V-tech should kick in at 5700 RPM and the rev limmiter im not sure on mine goes to 9 on the gauge, The VTI civic V-tech was 5500

But saying that you may have a spoon ECU, Rev limmiter at 9200 RPM same V-tech point.

Theres loads of info on the website i showed you :)

You see I disagree aaron and the reason behind this you have to take all factors into account, so lets look at the facts

Toyota Glanza/GT Turbo = 133BHP & 860kg = 154.65BHP/Tonne

Honda Civic SIR= 170bhp & 1050kg = 161.97BHP/Tonne

Now if you also take the fact that you have to drive the balls off the Civic to get it going. Both cars can have an LSD as mines came as standard. On a dyno the Civic will win but when it comes to the road it will be a close race standard on standard. Even if you turned the boost up but below fuel cut I think the Glanza/GT Turbo will win.
Not too mention the Civic SIR are comparing themselves to a 1.3 with 37BHP less as standard.
Christy

Christy you're soooo wrong, listen to even what the guys on here (starlet drivers) are telling you, standard on standard a vtec WILL win by a good bit.
You seem to have it in your head that glanza's are the quickest cars on the road when they are FAR from, don't get me wrong, I LOVE glanza's I wouldn't think twice about buying one, but I wouldn't be buying it to be quicker than my civic because it just wont. I think the glanza's are amazing for what they are, a tiny car with a tiny turbo which to me spells FUN FUN FUN!

Have you been in any of our (me, leigh, shane) cars? I can't remember if we took you for a run, in your post you say we would have to drive our cars too hard!!! Thats the point, vtec's are wild, they just keep giving you more, leigh only has about 10bhp more than you from what I recall at the rr day? How many evo's have you beat??? And how many has leigh beat in a EK9 Civic Type R?

All in all, it doesnt matter what you do to a glanza, you can tart it up as much as you want and it will NEVER come close to being half the car an EK9 is, the reason people on here don't have one is because either they are being as ignorant to vtec's as you are (though you have never drove one or been on a spirited drive in one), they have never been in one, or the most probable - they cant afford one!

I know people on here will think I'm a d**k or whatever but I really don't care, I have drove glanza's and been in many gt turbo's but not one has ever impressed me as much as the first 5 minutes in a vtec car.

You can blast on about 300bhp glanza's but tbh its a waste of money because it will be completely useless unless its in a straight line which tbh isn't really "driving" your car.

How many glanza rally cars have you ever seen?
How many civic rally cars have you ever seen?
I wonder why they don't use glanza's as rally cars if they are indeed as good as you say at beating the likes of an sir.

An EK9 IS legendary you can't argue with that, though you will probably say it isn't. A glanza is not really that much different than a standard starlet (bar the engine). Where as the EK9 has a fully seem welded chassis for instance!
It's just not the same league!

P.S. Shane's car is an Integra Type R not an Accord!

Rant Over...

http://cars.buyandsell.ie/vehicles/view/46456/honda-civic-type-r-1997 wow 8200Euro... maybe if I work hard and save for the rest of my life I can afford one of these cars!!! HUGE Money...

hmmm.. Ive both driven one and can afford one but have ZERO interest in ever buying one so I think you are now generalising and it shows just how this thread is going.

Im confused as to where all this talk of SIR's being fast has come from. Yes I agree that CTR's are nippy but an SIR? sorry they are not particularly fast and I AM talking from experience.

Now you are saying that a Glanza can never stick with a civic... so YOU have driven every Glanza in the world have you??

This is really getting boring now because some people are going on like civics are supercars or some high end sports car... they are cheap cars and are in no way expensive. The SIR is nothing special, the type R is nice but is not some sort of invincible legend, no more so than any car.

I dont rate stock GT's or Glanzas as being particularly fast.. I dont rate civic SIRs at all .. in my opinion they are torqueless car that revs high and some people like the sound of the imense vtec... a Td04 Glanza would maul one - end of story and we all know how cheaply you can put a td04 on a 4efte.

My suggestion if you wish to praise the Honda gods is to go to a Honda forum and do so because you are on a Toyota forum now and threads like this will always get a reaction and cause bickering which frankly we can do without.
