Should have made myself clear. Without going the turbo route I ment, and yes they make good power with the turbo kits. Saw a civic recently make 206bhp@0.6 bar.

There are people on this site that have spent a fortune changing turbos etc, to me not too much work is an air filter and exhaust LOL
I know what you mean bud.

I never said how much faster my starlet was? what are you on about?

Also if budget is a concern I would say that £ for £ modding an original turbo car is cheaper than an N/A so is your argument now void?

Not your comments about starlet performance.

I see you live in the states, you must admit that turboing Civics is common and cheap out there as the kits are readily available.

I wouldnt bother myself.:):)

very very true mate they are everywhere! But I cant help feel that if the Glanza or GT had been sold here or had the steering wheel on the proper side they would be as popular.

No denying they are big into their Civics over here.

I was just reading yesterday about a Subaru Legacy GT with a 280BHP twin sequential turbo and they are cheap over here, like less than £3000 for a good one because they are massive things.
They cant sell them in the states because your wheels on the wrong side so theres another turbo where the wheel is LOL

That is all they make. I was at a rolling road day in Letterkenny and a Type R Civic and Type R Accord DC2 both made around that figure. Both questioned it but the guy at the dyno said that is all they usually make and even ran them again and they made the same figure.

Funny you say this christy as thats what the chap at the RR day said to me today, he said all the fueling was fine etc and they normally make that power, but i wasnt convinced........

But now your saying it this may well be true, will sign up to ek9 forum to see what the think....

Still on stock cat etc..... so may just need freeing up... Feels savage to drive though and power delivery is very strong.

Yeah the boys in the Type R's didnt really believe it either, but a few breathing mods should loosen it up a bit for you. Seems like you really like them.haha. I wasnt too convinced when I have been in them. Have you got any pictures of your up yet?

ek9 is defo a remarkable car my mate has one, vtec is awesome but a turbo to me gives me more satisfaction would love to have a turbo'd vtec only thing with an ek9 is tho in my opinion they are way way over priced,

Didn't bother reading all the pages, lol. :p I had a red SiR,was mint but found the whole vtec thing boring.Had to drive the thing like fuck just to get it going properlly. They do look the proper sex though :) I had mine for 6 months and sold it.Had the usual exhaust, filter with a nice mines ecu aswell.Would still have a starbo though.

Heres a pic of mine........

yeah it defo needs getting used to but personally i think its amazing drive... Vtec is a wicked and fun feeling and all my local mates agree... Good buzz around the roads and very different experience for me having such an opposite kind of power.....

And again personally i think what i payed for my EK9 5.4K was well worth it.... as a whole car feels great and solid....

each to their own though so..........

Over here yes it is very hard to insure a type r civic. A friend of mine bought one and was told by the insurance company (Quinn) that that they wouldn't quote him until he was 25. So it's now "insured" as a standard 1.6civic :homer:
Shop around for insurance before you make any decisions on what car to get.

any chance u kno anyone insured on an sir?? he got a qoute 1700 on his dads policy gna ring for a qoute on a type r 2morro i think

I'm not doubting anyone but if they only have 170 bhp and weigh 1080kg how can they accelerate from 0 to 60 in 5.7 seconds?

I think 6.9 seconds would be a more accurate figure

they weigh between 1000-1050KG and trust me it hits 60 a fair amount quicker then 6.9... And is definitely quicker then a stock GT without a doubt especially higher up the gears 4th and 5th gear pulls much harder..... It really does....

You really do need to know how to drive the car properly though......

I see mate and your right about it's how you drive them. All anyone needs to do is take a look at a vtec dyno graph.

yeah thats it mate... I mean it made 110 max HP until 6K RPM lol then goes bloody wild... But this lack of low down power enables you too grip through the rev range and helps with launching.... Plus it has an amazing LSD in it, really does do the deed.....

At first i didnt think huge of it but after about 150 miles of driving it i started to get to grips with it... Its a challange but very fun indeed....

Ive coverd 450 miles in it sincec yesterday lol.... The more i drive it the more i understand it.... Does take a good while of your own time to appriciate it, not an odd drive here and there. or a few miles around a few blocks...

I stand corrected mate, 5.7 seconds is right.
I suppose my friend can't drive it properly
