makes sense dan, i kinda feel criminal that im turbo'ing a type r but hey i paid for it so guess i can do what i like :homer: yeah il give you a shout when shes running some boost, shouldnt be long now.

if you weld that crossmember it will split again in no time as it has a weak point now, best thing to do is weld it up, then get some half inch bar and seam weld it to it and have it going all the way to the chassis legs either side. my bro's g40 has done the same thing enough times and once we re enforced it its held up well. :)

yeah would be just depends how much work you wanna make for yourself.. re enforcing it with a cable tie would be stronger than it was anyway :p

sorry gary, i got in at 4.00am after raving so i didnt see this and wouldnt of been able to come anyway.......

I may just temp weld it back up because to be fair it did last about 8 months of battering before its started to crack. So even if it lasts a few months thats a bonus just piece of mind until i have he money to sort it out properly....

Thanks for the advice

a seriously nuts car still dan.

im sure you'll love every minute of sorting that motor out now :)

the finished product is still so far away though isnt it? lol
and its all your own fault, you just keep pushing the target firther and further! if you ever hit this target of forged 3sgte and 500bhp, with sqjillian lb/ft i think you should take this motor to more events drag or time attack!

just fix that cross member properly dan for christ sake LOL :homer: if your ganna go through the effort of having it welded up you may aswell get some extra metal in there and re inforce it..?

if you just weld it i doubt it will last long at all as the metal has a weak point now that its cracked.

thanks!

Engine mounts are completely custom fabricated to suit the 3SGTE.

Good to see this coming back Dan

Thanks Dave!

Cheers Phil, yes the finished product is a long shot away but its all part of the fun :drive:

lol @ sqjillian! I WILL hit my target even if it takes me a life time

Time attack, yeah that if i can actually turn haha, drags should be exciting.

think a gt35 would be more fun dan, if you gonna do it do it probably:p
should be a good laugh, with nearly 200 more hp and loads more torque i think we should try a 5th gear standstill burnout:haha::haha:

Yeah but i dont wana run more then 500BHP as after that power you need to look into doing something with the cylinder head to run it reliably. Thin cylinder walls man

The GT3082 should be a good one for a genuine 500WHP :)

Simons MR2 running that turbo was running a genuine 500WHP and was craking 11.1 Quarter mile :) And im in a shell 300KG lighter. That will be enough i reckon :haha: Enough to scare the living shit out of me anyway!!! haha

Yeah can do 3rd gear on the spot burn outs in the dry on this set up so maybe a 5th gear burn out is on the cards :haha:

I feel sorry for my tires

I like it! My mate has just had a 3s conversion done, its an animal!

Into a Starlet?

How much does the GT weigh now with the 3SGTE sat in it ? Be a little bit heavier than normal, but with 500whp it will be an absolute animal mate! Surely you'll be spinning up in 5th! lol Madness, pure madness! :D

Not sure on weight but it doesnt feel any heavier or should i say the weight difference is completely insignifficant with all that extra torque through the rev range. Comparing to circa 300BHP 4E starlets this has more top end grunt, pressuming due to the extra displacment. Not only that you make 260BHP/310lbs torque from 4500RPM. From a roll in 3rd/4th gear the car is nice.
