A few have suffered from electrical problems were they will literally just burst in to flames on your drive! Used to have a Clio and was a member on the forums, a few had this problem.

and you moaned at me about mentioning that a few people have had problems with a ps3 based on a few cases on a forum......

i think everyone has hit it on the head really. Ricky said it best - they don't feel that quick and do sound tinny but when you look at the speedo they are deffo shifting! They hadle awesome and have loads of toys for the cash. Sometimes I miss mine but I don't think I would go back. Put some white Speedline Turinis on mine and thought it looked mint :-

I really like them....

Ive had a go with 1 clio 182 and 4 clio 172's in my EK9 from rolls and all get pretty much killed...... 2nd gear seems pretty close, 3rd gear start pulling pretty hard, 4th gear im goooone.....

Beat them pretty much the same as stock starlets.... I really dont think there will be too much in a GT and 182.... Think the clio is a tad quicker..... Hard to judge when your in front pulling alot....

I messed around with a 230bhp 182 When i had my GT running 201bhp on a Ct9.

The starlet was a fair bit quicker. but i suppose thats down to weight and the torque from the turbo.

They are fast tho,

I know for a fact they are faster than a standard starlet.

How many car models can you mention that have cases whereby they go up in smoke for no reason..just sat on a drive?

As this is a safety issue..for example the car being parked on the drive next the house there is a possiblity of the house also catching fire.

I think you'll find this is a very valid reason for mentioning the known fault.

Go tick for tack with someone else.

I would have thought if it was a big fault with them most people would have heard about it from word of mouth, internet or even the media they seem to enjoy feeding everyones heads with bollox.

Just saying mate, have a look on Clio Sport if you are interested.

Seen a few cases of it, pictures and everything of Clio's gutted out by fire and caused by an electrical fault.

Obviously 99.9% are fine, but still worth while knowing IMO.

calm down gee, your too quick to jump on your high horse and be 'right' ever time. its a forum who cares!

i have no problem with you mentioning this safety issue with these cars, there is also the bonnet catch problem which is also worth a mention.

That was not on any of the sport models though.

Remember that being featured on Watchdog a while ago.

these are great cars but be prepared to be fixing it most weekends. and as its a renault some bolts and nuts will rather shear off than turn causing lots of bad language.

weejohn took a video of us in a ct9 1 bar ep82 vs 182 stripped out clio on slicks round kirkistown racetrack. he was slower on the straights but my chinese tyres let us down in the twisties. he got past after about 6 laps trying. looked like an ideal track car.

ive owned a few differnt cars from the renault sport range and i say get one u will not be dissapointed. the only thing is if u get a 182 make sure u get the cup version or the full fat with cup packs. i personally have owned both and prefered the simplicity of the cup not full fat with cup packs.

the second choice to a 182 is the cheaper 172 but if you go for this option make sure its a cup not just a 172.

both a very good cars and yeah they are french but hey they are better than the glanzas in many ways and thats some one whos owned a £6000 glanza. glanzas and gts are awesome and 100% more tunable down to the TURBO:p. the clios are fast but if you come up against a well put together glanza or gt (td04 example) u will get mullered but on a track and day to day driving id go for the clio mate.

this discussion can go all week and still not be sure on what to do:homer:

good look mate and my final say is renault sports, glanzas and gts are all fantastic in their own way.
