cooling system

My block warped both times my headgasket went, had that skimmed nd didnt have the problem again untill the headgeasket really let go, probably down to the head lifting from the block due to the headbolts that are used in this engine being very small for high boost applications.

Others in Jamiaca, Aus, Malta etc all run more power than most users here with Stock headbolts and don't seem to be having any issues?

it's hard to know what to beleive really, there is such a mixture of information on the internet and a lot of contradiction aswell.

Yes, i know many in Malta running over 1 bar of boost with needed mods for years without any problems at all regarding stock head bolts especially!

got the rad back today, re-cored with ally core now. so will let ya know what happens when its back in. random ass cars

Mine seems to be doing the same.

It's as if the system likes the rad not to be quite full, and instead of using the expansion tank, it uses the top 3 inches of the rad to expand and contract within.

Odd fault.

right, done the sniff test this evening, and i can confirm that it's not my radiator, it is in fact something to do with the headgasket/head/block.

so i think i gonna hand it over to mr burwash and let him do his worst

i'll keep you posted, it all depends whether my application gets through for a loan, no way of doing it unless dave wants to start finance lol

So gases found in the coolant or not?

Cool, thanks for the link.

What sort of issue with the block can cause this leakage then?

cracked block (highly unlikely), cracked head (again highly unlikey) and headgasket failure.

i wanted to do the test before i spent 200 + on a new rad just incase it never solved the problem.

now i'm glad i never.

Should of used that coolant, the 4Life from demon tweeks. Would have spotted head gasket failure and perhaps even saved a head or block.

Can't recommend the stuff enough.

@ gtti- i knew when the headgasket had gone instantly the first time round, it was on the rollers at the time, the boost blew a part of the gasket away.

this time i knew it within 5 mins, i just wanted to make sure, as i really dont think it is headgasket, i think it's something else, like a warped lock or something.

dont think the coolant would have made much difference.

@spoonz, yes it changes colour.
