### EP95 turbo conversion ###

LOL! I love it, epic fail you say?

Yes I've been in a few 4x4s, but you don't need to have ever travelled in a car to know that a 2wd will corner just as fast.

Can anybody explain to me how a 4wd gives you more grip going round a corner? No? Shame

You have exactly the same area of tyre in contact with the floor so how is the 4wd helping?

I look forward to the replies ;)

instead of the back end sliding out it will be pulling the back end round the corner so you wont get bad oversteer

unless its 4 wheel oversteer which = DRIFTING yO and is a million times easyer to controll

You should be in a steady state while cornering (neither accelerating or decelerating) so the 4wd won't help to 'pull' the back end in from sliding. There would be no reason a fwd to have the back end sliding out anyway, and 4wd would not help that anyway.

god my bros subaru can take a corner at alot more than my starlet !

yet my starlets faster than it

4wd is immense around corners

Cole, seriously bud, your not exactly right here.....

You also get 2WD rally cars.

A subaru has a completely different chassis to a starlet as well as set up, it doesnt handle better becasue its 4WD as there are soo many FWD cars that handle better then starlets too.

Its how the car is set up... weather its FWD, 4WD or RWD they all have pros and cons and can all be immense like you say.

a 4WD car will not pull you around a corner, its will understeer, then you have to find ways of reducing this...

Ive driven enough to know......

saying this a 4WD starlet out the box are crazy little things.

4wd does let you accelerate out of a corner alot easier, thus making it quicker in the twisties.

yes ok the free rolling action of going round a corner wont be different, but when exiting it makes a big difference.

like others have mentioned if your coming round a right hand corner, the two left hand wheels will have most the drive allowing it to turn the car and drive out alot better, allowing more power usage and better grip levels

But you can't explain to me how 4wd helps? Because it doesn't.

You still have exactly he same amount of rubber on the Tarmac to give you grip.

How can you say I'm so wrong? A 4wd will not have higher cornering speeds than a 2wd of exactly the same spec FACT

EDIT: just read more replies from when I was writing my response. 4wd as I said I. A previous post will help when exiting a corner ONLY if the fwd begins to wheelspin (unlikely on anythin by the tightest track)

grip of 4wd will help to put the power down coming out of the corner, also between 4wd starlet with 250bhp and fwd with same power 4wd should have beter weight balance

what a load of bull a 4wd will leave a normal fwd around a corner coz theres twice as much grip

i think we need to wait and see what the 4wd owners think to this

gaz ep85 etc ...

read wat i said mate...

it isnt the in corner speed its the exit which makes the difference

If they both had around 200BHP and both very well set up(like tobys old machine) then it really would be so close to call....

If they both had 300BHP i would put my money on the 4WD all day long....

The FWD will struggle more the more power you go for whilst the 4WD will still stuggle more(obviosuly) BUT alot less then the FWD would..........

Like i say, GAZES is crazy, with only 230BHP its a right thrill, but then Tobies old car was FWD and had similar power that was bloody immense!!

ive never been in a really good handling starlet

just usual ones with coilovers and lsd

so cant comment but if the ep95 grips anything like a subaru

then its day and night between the 2

Cole bud, if you went in tobys old car you would see exactly where im coming from....

The 4WD is great, as i said, if money was no option i would now go 4WD with my 3SGTE.....

yer so if its just the same as a normal starlet around a corner why would you do it if you had the money

= because its better all round

:)

Adam Glanza- I was agreeing with you mate

Cole - you still give no reason a 4wd will give a higher cornering speed! Let's see where some other knowledable people stand on this.

I'm not saying there is no point in going 4wd, I would absolutely love it! I'm just saying the cornering speed will be the same as a fwd car with the same spec.

i have .. because theres twice as much grip !

and youve just made no sense what so ever how can you have a fwd with the same spec as a 4wd unless your talking about engine mods

in which it would kill the fwd off the line

then leave it around the corners

fact

when i first started with mine i was the same, wanted BIG power then when i was running round with 240 bhp you quickly find out that the 4wd are completely different car's to a fwd, the ep85 are not top speed runs on the motorway they are short geared point to point country lane destroy'er's:haha:

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

now stop posting useless info on my thread

as this thread isnt about 4wd v fwd

Because i may have problems putting down 500-550BHP :)

And i already said its a great idea going 4WD, But that doesnt mean a FWD isnt just as good with a great set up, under 230BHP....... Going for 300BHP though 4WD would be sweet! And better IMO

LOL! Starting to get annoying now, you're too stubborn.

You seem perfectly happy to stay ignorant on this topic though so I'll let you carry on.

And 4wd may have twice as much grip when ACCELERATING because all wheels are being driven, but going round a corner you are NOT accelerating, a fwd car still has 4 tyres for cornering, so will have exactly the same lateral grip.

And yes when I was talking about exactly the same spec I mean suspension and handling wise.
