ive always wondered about insurance sidfe of things, for example when they ask how many seats you have. if you say 5, an then only have the 2. would that invalidate it?

I know for the mot in the north if you remove the back seats you have to remove the belts too, if there is belts in then they think along the lines that you will be able to still carry passengers even though the seats are out and making it dangerous for them.

iv had mine stripped out for ages and mines passed MOT.only thing i need 2 put back in is my cat lol.my seats, parcelshelf, all interior panels, seatbelst, carpet r out and all is good.

I agree with fraser - completely legal. All the check are the seatbelts, but if you haven't got them, nor the seats then they won't check it!

Things u have to be worry about - the CAT and too loud exhaust, road legal tyres/brakes and no leaks anywhere - that would be it.

You must declare that you have just 2 seats to insurance company otherwise they might not pay you if you make a claim as you have undeclared mods!

You cant have back seats in without seat belts, thus meaning you can carry passengers but not safely and the other way around. You can strip out whatever you like in the back interior wise, its your car.

For mot you dont have to, will be a note on the slip saying that at time of mot rear seats are not present.but you have to have the buckles on the car. havent a clue why. think as seats belts are in back so still need them. but no seats in.

police will say nothing. as long as no one in it!

you cant insure it as a 2 seater as technically it is a 5 seat car still. wouldnt invalidate it i would ahve thought. that would be the insurer being stupidely petty which wouldnt do.

for a registered 4 seater you can strip out the seats, and either take the belts out or leave them in
as Ian stated if there is seats there they need belts, but not vice versa

however if you need to register a car ie : an import, if it has no seats then it will get registered as a 2 seater, the belts will need to be removed and the holes for belts and seats must be welded up
I own a TRD msb vitz which is registered as a 2 seater as it never came with rear seats

insurance wise i would think it may be best to inform them, although who is to say that you removed them for cleaning !! ;)
