Crank is beyond repair :(

fucking hell man, did u drive it for long after it started knocking? can the crank not have a regrind and throw in some oversize bearings?

This should have happened due to oil starvation or loss of oil pressure....but all four of them?
Hmm sounds suspicious!
My guess is the same as above, wrong torque settings!
Cheer up mate,a standard bottom rebuild should not be that bad. Right?

It wasn't built right. I need to have a word with the guy tomorrow. I'm raging at the minute. So I need to calm down with a beer. I've literally just got in from the garage. I'm covered in oil. But I need beer.

Its not something that happened over night. The bearings are scored REALLy deeply. This has been happening before I bought the engine.

To say I'm fucking sick is an understatement

So you bought a used engine off someone?
If yes, then can you talk to that person and come to an agreement?
And yeah,go ahead with the beer!

wow what a joke! haha get off this and relax get a few beers in before you loose the plot.

horrible to say to someone and im sorry for saying it, but it could be worse. at least you know whats wrong and you have steps there to put it right

i know a lad who seized a gt engine by letting the oil level drop to nothing then after getting a new one fucked it up by putting too much oil in it. worst thing is his bro is a mec he was nearly crying in the pub over it all.

as above i would put it down to it not torqued properly as one maybe all 4 is way too out of the blue. get onto whoever and get them to sort it out asap

Gurrturbo, that would be awesome, drop me a pm and we'll sort something out :) that's exactly what I need.

Churcherj, exactly what I needed. Thanks!

I don't know wether to continue with my build now. I can't afford to really.

i think you should continue, now youve made a large investment into it, i think it would be stupid to not continue, thats even more wasted money! maybe get a cheap run around for a few hundred quid and keep the glanza off the road for abit and save?

haha! i do my best :)

as said mate try and look for cheaper management, yes i agree the haltech is awesome, but you can also do ALOT with other management at a fraction of the cost! are u gona be running huge boost, NOS and other things? even the likes of an apexi FC or the megasquirts can do a hell of alot, even the EMU is pretty good for a piggyback! just something to consider mate

Why not sort the engine first mate, then when the time comes, get one of chris at ccms plug and play kit...

After having a long think last night over 9 or 10 beers. I've made a decision.

I could put a new crank in it and new shells and rods. And I wouldn't need to do anymore.

But seeing as we have already had big problems with the engine due to build error I don't think it is wise. I seem to be getting petrol in my oil too, so I think the rings aren't gapped properly.

Due to this I'm going to remove the engine, and completely strip it, as I don't have any other choice. I could do the minimum just to find another problem when I drive it again.

Then while it is apart, is there any point putting standard parts back in?

So I've ordered some forged pistons, and a full gasket kit. And I'm going to completely rebuild the engine. Going to use the standard 5efhe rods, as they are more than capable.

I'm about to heaad down the garage to rip the engine out and start all over again. I'm gutted. But I don't have any choice, and I'll see how I feel when I've done that about wether to keep it or not
