thats a shit to hear kelly.

looks to me like a lack of servicing or poor qaulity oils used, more likely in japan though

sorry to hear, im sure youll sort it.
Also That looks very similar to my 200sx engine before i swapped it. that had a blocked oil line but it was caused by bad maintinence - not enough oil changes ect. on the 200sx it had gotten so bad that the cams had chipped at the side due to heat build up.

Get it fixed and sell it, it'l be cheaper in the long run . If ya get stuck with anything you know were we are.

Sorry to hear this.

Doesn't look like it's been done overnight Kells, would suspect a lack of servicing more than anything. You can probably thank the Japanese owners if the recent history is fine.

i was up at nicks when ben was jacking it up because of an oil leak! really sorry to hear that kelly!

Hiya, didnt realise that was you or else i would have said hello but i didnt want interfere with nick talking to what i thought was new faces lol!

Yeh the oil leak was just a tiny dripping from the o ring on the dipstick nothing to do with this problem. It went bang on our way home from nicks unit.

So you all reckon it could be bad servicing as far back as the previous previous owner? From what i can read from cars history owner before us who is a club vr4 member had it for about 18months.

Its just pure bad luck i guess that the time bomb went on us :(

a mate of mine had a v6 gto and the roller idler bearing collapsed and threw the belt. sounded just like you said. we got the heads off and there was nothing left of anything apart from a scored cylinder bore. new engine? yes please. probably easier anyway. mitsubishi wanted an arm and a leg for every part broken

it might not even be poor servicing, but it's possible it because cheap oils have been used, and given the sort of car it is, cheap oils and high performance dont mix
