Run the engine in with a cheap mineral or semil synthetic 10w-40 then I would use a 5w-40 synthetic

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx

Out of those, the best ones are the Silkolene Pro S, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Gulf Formula G, Fuchs Supersyn and Mobil Synt S are good, cheaper alternatives.

Cheers

For both of you I would use a 5w-40 synthetic

For running in use a cheap mineral or semi synthetic 10w-40

For the gearbox, have a look at these

Bumping this thread a bit

Chassis Daihatsu Gtti
Engine : 4efte
Engine size: 1331cc, standard engine

Any mods - Td04 ( 1 bar ) with all the supporting mods

Type of use - Fast Road / Drag

Additional info - I use Caltex Havoline formula 10/30 engine oil with no prbs what so ever
http://www.havoline.com/products/sa/motoroil_form.html

Oil Temps : max temp i have seen on the gauge is 85C after giving multiple runs when tunning on the highway

Been using this engine oil from the very begining . Recently got the car tuned at 1 bar . The car is driven very less , like 100-150 km a month ...and i change the oil after every 2 months or 500 kms .

What else would you recommened ? ( in this part , i have acces of ELF , Total 10/40 semi synthetic , Zic A 10/40 semi synthetic )

A 10w-30 wouldn't be my choice, a 5w-30 full synthetic would be better, but as you are changing it so often, it doesn't matter too much. Elf make some pretty good oils, one of their synthetic 5w-30's would be my choice.

It should be ok for you, I would normally choose something thinner, but your air temps are pretty warm so you should be okay. Any idea what your oil temps are?

No, not really. I dont have an oil temp gauge just yet.
Another question:
Can I use a 20w-50, also full synthetic?

You could do, if you have to, but as the 300V is such a good oil, I'd stick with that and you don't really want to go anythicker than the 15w when cold. Ideally a 10w-50 would be a better choice.

thank you very much. I did the question because that oil here, in Guatemala, is very expensive 4 liters: US$60.00, and the 20w 50 quaker state is just US$35.00. But thanks I'll stick with the v300
