Hi Oilman, I see that your doing an offer on your Gulf 5w40 competition oil. Would this be suitable on my Starlet gt turbo thats just used as my daily driver? Its running approx 150/160bhp and has always ran on 5w40 fully synthetic oil and has 120,000km. Cheers.

The 8100 5w-40s will be fine, I'd probably go for the X-Cess your car doesn't need the oil to meet manufacturer specs and the other 5w-40 (X-Clean) is designed to meet VW/BMW/Merc specs.

I thought that one is a semi. It definately says synthetic? Either way, it's okay stuff, synthetic is the way to go though.

Cheers

you may be right all i remember was seeing 'synthetic' on the bottle while i was at the gas station, i'll go look at some fully synthetic oils lol

thanks

The shell helix 10w40 with the blue container is the semi synthetic stuff.
Not too great,i used it in a standard engine and wasnt too impressed.
A few people noticed that the level would go down after some thousand of kms.
I thought my engine was burning oil but then i found other people were having the same issue.
I guess the motul x-cess 8100 is better.

However there is a shell helix with grey container, says synthetic. That is the synthetic stuff.

Oilman i need your advise.
A friend of mine has an awd vitz, and he needs to know what oil should he use for transmission.
The car has automatic transmission, is a 2000 model, has 89000km on the odometer.
The car is in Guatemala City, Central America.

In advance, thank you very much.

Hi

I don't know for sure, it's not on our database, but I would think something like the Amsoil ATF, Redline D4 or Motul Multi ATF would be the oil to go for

Cheers

Tim
