Hi Phil

I would use a 5w-40 synthetic and you will find those through the link below.

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx

Out of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Millers XFS, Fuchs Supersyn, Shell Helix and Mobil Super 3000 are good, cheaper alternatives.

Cheers

It is very good stuff and we've just put some dented cans on Ebay if anyone is interested (starting at £5 per 2L). Depending on what the car gets used for and how it's modified, generally between 5-10000 miles.

Hi

The best oil to use for all stages of running in is the Millers CRO as that's what it's specifcally designed for.

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-60229-millers-oils-cro-10w-40-competition-running-in-oil.aspx

You want to change it after about 50 miles, then 200, then 500 and then put the good oil in at 1000 miles.

I would use a 5w-40 synthetic when it's run in and you will find those through the link below.

There's not as much of a difference, but even on a hot UK day (30C ish), it's still nowhere near the 100C or so the oil wants to be operating at. I'd still go with a 5w-40.

Thank you for that!

What oil filter would you recommend? Also what oil would your recommend for the AUTO gearbox - I know it's a dexron III but what make would be good?

Thank you!

I'm looking for a bit of advice on my oil; I'm currently running Fuchs Titan Supersyn 5w40 but the oil temps had been getting a bit higher than usual recently (95c when cruising on the dual carriageway and over 120c when driven hard) so I've just fitted an oil cooler with thermostat but now the oil is not getting above 70c with normal driving (with hard driving it gets to 85c then sits there).

So I'm now obviously worried that the oil is too cool!? Can I change the oil to one which heats up quicker or run a differrent oil which is ok at a lower temp?

Car is fairly high mileage (100k + miles) running 190bhp ish and normally just driven at the weekends for back road blasts where I would like the oil to be getting upto temperature quickly.
