Should women be forced to pay the same insurance as men?

I think its unfair that women get cheaper insurance.
My first year of driving I paid £1600 for a vauxhall corsa sport 1.6, my girlfriend had a 1.6 Audi sport and paid the same, however I could put money on the fact that if she was to get a quote for my corsa, it would be cheaper, and vice versa if I was to get a quote on the Audi, I would have been bent over and spanked.
Fair enough that males do drive more than females, and males are more likely to have 2 cars (sports car and work car for example). I feel though that it is us males that take the brunt for women. The amount of times I've seen a woman in the outside lane go all the way round a roundabout, and cut me up, and I have had some very close encounters with them is not even countable on both hands. If it wasn't for my reactions they would have hit straight into the passenger side door. I think that us males are the ones that end up avoiding the acidents for the females.

Dam right. Its about time women started paying the same as men, what makes them different? Yes theres the whole arguement about young boys becoming Michael Schumacher but ive seen girls do it also ...!

Glad its changing hopefully but on the other note, its just another way for insurance companys to make more money.

i think all insurance should be the same regardless of sex or age, mine is nearly £3200 a year, im paying 280 quid a month which works out roughly 70 quid a week and i only realy drive my car at weekends its ridiculous...and they wonder why more and more people are driving without insurance, would be cheaper to risk it , even if they took my car away i couldnearly buy 2 more GT's with £3200. if i was a girl i wouldnt be paying half of that.

Well it has been proven that women make more car accidents than man, but it cost cheaper to fix - normally it's bad parking skills. However man do less accidents but most of them would be a write off, therefore - ONLY in the UK as far as I know man pay more than woman!

Insurance in the UK is very expensive full stop. The companies make a lot of profit!
To compare with a fiend of mine in Estonia (EU), age 29, 2 years no claims - pay about £1000 (Fully comp. with reputable insurance company, included all extras) for a brand new Honda CRV (with a lot of optional extras) which cost around J25K!!!

really annoys me the european union sticking their noses in on this one. insurance is about risk , so insurance companies discriminate on many factors, age, sex, driving record, home address. its their business who pays more.

what if the european union decides to have a go at them for ageism. old drivers pay the same as young ones- therefore 40 year olds then end up paying double to subsidise 17 year olds? be interesting to see the reaction then!

The Gender in the EU doesn't make any difference for the Insurance Purposes unlike in the UK! So in theory it would be cheaper for man to insure a car if the women would pay the same as man! But in real life they just put up the prices for women!

i think in the interest of fairness all men should be forced to pay the same insurance as a women now as they have been getting the easy life in the insurance department, i am 20 nw bt was 19 at start of policy 1yr ncb gt insurance 3000 euro, my gf 20 at start of policy 1 yr experience 0 ncb 1 claim gt insurance 1350, how is the man with ncb higher risk than the woman with a claim and no ncb???

oh i do believe me, is worth paying knowing 99% of people in my age group cant keep up at traffic lights ;)

There we are, with zero irony intended you have single handedly provided the reason lads pay more.
