two of the studs do protrude into the runners unless you cut them down.
as for the runner size, they are the same i would say but i agree thyey are alot more consitent.

also as for the cross part in the centre, 99% of std manifolds are already cracked around this area anyway so grinding it down wont really matter tbh

I'm gonna consider myself lucky then. The JAM cast must have been out of whack that day. I'll be posting my 4 manifold shoot out later this year.

the stock manifold is like that so none of the stud protrude into the runners and so you can easily get all the nuts on. i think its for longevity rather than performance. i think alot of the reaon it cracks is becuase water collect at that point and becuase its a restriction it will crack as its hotter than any other point in the mani.

on a stock engine its not really a problem performance wise, thats why its designed like that!

If you're thinking bout MAXCar conversion that's questionable information. Max used to machine away the cross in the middle for flow reasons. great for drag racing, not for daily use.

yeah hardcore...i did mean maxcar---the "Z" was a mistype...:)

wasn't there also some craze over there whereby runner # 3 was partially removed and a "new piece" welded onto it to facilitate more flow??......man i wished i still had those pics.

yeah...he may experience cracking issues......most stock manis get them anyway---------really depends on how much material removed, use of car, boost pressure, where material removed from, etc..............for the cost of it.....its definitely worth a shot:rockon:
----------also, ONE of the reasons why the oem unit cracks is due to the restriction.............so with them gone/reduced........it may last a bit longer

wil wait on the acutal results and see how it goes----------u win some, u lose some:p

still think its a good effort there by turbodave:rockon:

Just wondering how you got on with this mate or anyone else that has ported the oem mani. Was gonna do this but after reading hardcoreep's warnings, starting to change my mind and get one of the speedvision ss manis. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks.

looks like uve done a good job. anything that gets the turbo spooling quicker is always a good idea. and if its free u cnt go wrong. Just a suggestion. Y dont u heat wrap it. That way it will look good aswell as it being a performance mod

not if im about :shoot::rockon:

We will see about that, getting forged next month and will be totally maxing out the Hybrid.:)

No problems as of yet I dont care if it cracks anyway you can get another one for 30 quid and start over again, the turbo mani etc are easy to get on and off once they have been off before.:)

uhmm how much would you guys suggest to shave off?

As much as you possibly can, I personally wouldnt worry too much about going through where the stud from runner 3 pertrudes either because I cant see the exhaust gasses escaping past the stud if you grind it too much.

i mean can you give me some turtorials on which part to port? and hopefully you can give me some pics.. and one last thing would the mani be prone to cracking if i do this? not that it would matter... :haha:
