The great 5E v 4E timing debate.

The way i see it...the 4e timing marks are for turbo and lower compression, rather then the 5e which is NA.

Also...lairy cams will lower the compression test readings mate due to the increased overlap allowing more time for the air to be pushed back out of the cylinder :)

When swapping from 5E to 4E timing marks, am I correct in thinking all that needs done is the cam pully gear just needs taken off and rotated round so the 5E mark matches the exact same dimple as the 4E was lined up to? Or do the cams need realigned in a different way?

correct, the 4e and 5e mark should be allligned to the dimple more to the right.

i done have the top cambelt cover inplace hence it only took me 15mins to swap lol

not sure when ill be getting a RR session but i might ask this question with an exprrianced tunner and maybe give it swap.

if it only needs a minor fuel change to th map, maybe worth saving both maps fr diffrent car use - i.e track or dragging

Got the mani welded today, no holes now boyos!!!

I would love to take it up to the rollers again this weekend and try er out but really low on the old funds. The car is definatly more wicked, and changing gears on boost doesn't create that wee dead spot I was getting for a split second, just seems to stay on boost properly.

Also its alot less lazy off boost.

I'd need some sort of flux capacitor system for a 9s or even 10s pass lol!!! I'll be happy with getting into the 12s, once its of the road it'll get some proper lightweight treatment and more power.
